Got it!!
The speedo dial runs counter clockwise, so . . . . . . it tracks how fast the car is going backwards!!

Carmad not only noticed the speedo but knew where it came from!  There's a place that sells exact replica Cobras (every detail and spec is exact) and you drop in the motor of your choice.

My guess is when your hands are on the wheel, they do obscure the right hand side of the gauge in a Cobra.
I have rotated my 930 gauges, the speedo and the tach for better visualization on the street and the track.
