I am in the very final stages of my 67 912 2.7 conversion. Just hooking up the wiring. I don't know how much I have into it so far, since I have done it over a long period of time. You will have to cut a hole in the inside fender to make room for the oil tank. If you run a FI engine you will have to run a return fuel line to the tank as well as put in a new fuel pump, filter, and accumulator tank (the 912 had a mech pump on the engine). Depending on what tranny/engine you use, you will need a clutch package that will work (for example my 2.7 to 901 I needed a clutch/flywheel form a 68-69 2.0). You'll need to cut out the old engine mounts and weld in the 911 mounts in the rear. I think that about covers the basics. Oh, and some wiring to figure out the engine harness to the car harness. Sounds worse than it is, it has really been a fun project. -Kris

Cool, we can start our own splinter club for 912-6's.
I suspect my 912e was easier to start with since it has the 911 motor mounts already installed, but I had to cut out the 912 mounts to clear the oil tank. Best to get all the parts from a 911 you can, even the mating tranny. If you go too much later (915 type) you'll probably have to deal with axle issues. Something hooked to a 901 should be okay. I would guestimate you are looking at at least 5-7k for the swap, less if you can find a okay running 911 t motor.

Nice looking ride!
"For an early short body 911" Will this cost me about 4-5 k to put a 2.0 engine in my 68 912 ? I called Parts heaven and he said that i could get $1000 trade in for my engine plus 2000 and shipping fee's. "I have an excellent running engine, so i would think i should get more." (big bore kit) He said it would be a running engine , not race ready but a runner. Thoughts ? Will i have to change something in the transmission or just hook it up? "I have a 5 speed " , 901 i think. My mechanic wants me to wait and sale my 912 and then look for a nice 911. He just hates to tear up a nice 912. jpc
