Heater wont stop blowing – help….
I just left Barber Motor Sports Park from tech and the heat won’t stop blowing. No the levers are not turned on. Any suggestions???

The cables under the car check out? When the heat is not directed into the cabin, it is exhausted under the car, sorta like a wataegate. Is this all in order? Did you "mow the lawn" out there?
BTW, the old guy driving the wrecker is family to me. I'd like to come back and take a drive on your new track. Someday. |

no lawn mowing just tech- I will check it out in the AM. What should I look for? Is there a blower that i can pull the fuse???

Cables that come out of the floor and run to flaps on the heat exchangers. Unless that all changed by '85. The newest Porsche 911 I've owned is a '77.
Anyway, the cables need to work. On the older cars, at least, they are controlled by a lever between the seats. Wait a minute...does the '85 have climate control? I just don't know enough about Carreras to be answering here. I just wanted to mention Jake Henson, the wrecker driver. yes the 85 does have climate control. I just need a quick fix to get me through the weekend and then it will go to the shop. Any thoughts?

If the problem is that the heater fan motor won't stop running, I had the same problem. It was the copper contacts on the levers between the seats. If they get bent off to the side they will make contact (and run the heater fan) even when the levers are down. You need to pull the cover off and bend them so they lose contact when the levers are down.
The heater blower fuse is one of the three fuses under the cover on the left side of the engine bay (top one I think).

It does not have levers. It has the climate control. Was this problem on youe 88 911 or another car? |

Or I could have checked the climate control to see if it was on(and it was). I want to thank everyone that helped (I was freaking out because I new it would be hot on the track today). Thanks again - Tim

Tim, I had the same problem a short time ago thanks to sloppy work at my garage.
The problem is under the car at the heat exchangers. A tempory fix is to climb underneath and pry off the hoses that join the heat exchangers to the heating system. They are located toward the back of the engine (toward the front of the car). If you have a 3.2, the hoses look like those on old flexible vacuum cleaner hoses and are an orange color. They connect to the "flapper boxes" and no amount of dicking around with the rest of the heating system will fix it as air pressure generated by road speed will force exhaust system temperature air into the cabin. Anyhow, I hope this gets to you in time and saves you the annoyance I had. I seriously wanted to tear off my mechanics lips and stick them in his ears.
