Anyone know of a good source for tires
I'm looking for some Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3. Tirerack doesn't expect to have them until late June.
1010.com wants about $40 more / tire. onlinetire.com doesn't stock the sizes I need. Anyone know of any other sources. I'm checking Costco but their site is down at the moment. At least I'm not in a hurry. Thx BTW, the stock tires are 205/55/16 and 225/50/16. Stock Fuchs, 7x16 and 8x16 on an 88 Carrera. Can I go to a larger tire size without messing with offsets or fender rolling?

You may try Discount Tire. 800-589-6789
Costco will most likely have a better selection of Michelin. They are the worlds largest Michelin retailer. Larger than all others put together. It may be tough to beat Tire Rack prices.

tirerack
Tirerack has great prices until you add shipping and pay someone to mount them.
I think you can always do better locally. Am I missing something?

For a "regular" car I have Costco remove, balance. mount and dispose of old tires for a few bucks. A friend who owns a repair shop couldn't touch their price on Dunlop SP5000s tires. Tire Rack sold them below his wholesale. The shipping was pretty low as they have three warehouses. You get hosed when they have to ship from non-local ones.

The advantage of Tire Rack is:
Their pricing is generally better for high performance tires as local shops tend not carry the inventory. Many Porsche servicers recommend that you order your tires and have them shipped to their shop for installation. Chances are that when you mount and balance new tires, it's a good idea to have a shop do it that knows your car. Also, an alignment is probably in the mix. Regardless of the job to be done, I tend not to hand over a 911 to a shop that is not familiar with the marque.

I was planning on purchasing the tires from Tirerack. I would then get a specialized shop to mount them. I will bring just the wheels and tires to them. I don't was some high school kid lifting my 911 up and crushing oil lines or putting a floor jack through the bottom of my car.
Tirerack has the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 for $124 for 205/55/16 and $136 for the 225/50/16. I haven't seen anybody else come close to that price. Shipping is about $50 and mounting another $125. The problem is they're on backorder utill June. I'll probably wait it out. I'm getting an alignment done first.

I'd get the alignment at the time I had the tires mounted and balanced.
