Seine vs. Wevo. What does each one bring to the table?

I know that fundamentally they both offering protection for the dreaded 5-2 downshift.....but what do you get from WEVO for the additional $350? I know there is a new lever and some additional parts but as far as the driving and shifting experience, can anyone comment on how they feel and perform compared to each other?

I have never seen the Seine Systems in person but i do have a Wevo. I think that the Seine unit is a fix for the flawed factory shifter and the Wevo re-invented the thing completely. The Wevo is a very smooth and effective short shifter coupled with the fact that you have to try pretty hard to hit the wrong gear. I have had mine for over a year and would buy it again.

Here is a picture of mine when i re-did my interior. I painted the housing satin black to match the shifter and mounted it on top of the carpet.

Isn't it an extra $450? $150 vs. $595? I have the WEVO coupler with factory short shifter, and I plan on installing a WEVO shifter sometime this season.

The Seine is a spring device "helper" that installs on the shifter in the cockpit only.

The WEVO is similar but you get a new billet shifter with the kit.

The real engineering improvement comes with the WEVO gate system. This device completely reengineers the internal shifting mechanism inside the gearbox. It replaces the sloppy factory "dongle" and adds a proper shiftgate mechanism inside the gearbox.

Paul, how do you like the Rennline pedal? Spendy little unit, is it worth the money? I would like to learn heel/toe driving, but the gap is a bit much right now.

So, John, are you saying that they perform similarly with the WEVO having some extra components that come along for the ride? The WEVO seems to be a good value for what you get but since my goal is to prevent the 5-2 downshift as economically as possible than the Seine should suit my needs?

I have not actually seen the Seine item so I cannot compare directly. But it seems they are very similar in what they are doing. I know many racers swear by the WEVO shifter.

Add the WEVO gate thing and coupler if you want to go for the total update package.

Paul, you can adjust the brake pedal so that it's further down toward the gas pedal as it engages, which will make heel and toeing easier. The pedals are certainly close enough together without the "winged" gas pedal. There is a threaded rod from the pedal cluster up to the master cylinder which allows the adjustment.

I've the Siene system spring kit on my stock shifter.
The Siene system is an easy fix for a stock shifter. Takes just an hour or so to install and works great. Every street car should have it.

Wevo makes great equipment. You should call Wevo and talk to Hayden the owner. He is a fantastic resource, nice guy and has racing experiance beyond belief.
If I was considering a factory short shift kit and Siene system kit I would also consider the Wevo shifter.
I did not like my factory short shift kit but I would like to try the Wevo short throw shifter. With the Wevo you can also get an extension handle if you need to improve your shifter's location.

The Wevo coupler is on my list too.

The Wevo gate system is on my list, though this requires removing the transaxle to install it.

On the track when the brakes get hot, or worse when the brake fluid boils you might want all the brake pedal travel you can get. I would leave the brake and clutch pedal even and instal thin spacer or winged plate if you like on top of the gas pedal to get the gas pedal at the correct hieght.

I agree, but sometimes they're set so the brake pedal is MUCH higher than the gas. A SMALL adjustment further down can make a lot of difference.

Paul, I like your seats alot. The Rennline pedal was a little spendy but it is very nice and i like the action and adjustability alot since i "heel and toe" with the ball of my foot. It is very functional and $225 is alot less than others have spent on purely cosmetic add-ons (junk).

In my opinion, if you can heel and toe easily in street driving, then your brake pedal is too low. Heel-and-toe downshifting is something you do under heavy braking, as a rule. On a public road, this would be akin to a panic stop.

If you adjust the pedal based on street driving, it's not going to be in the right place when you're on the track. And as Ted points out, when the pedal gets soft, you're going to be very greedy for pedal travel.

You mentioned that you did not like the factory short shift kit. Why? Did you find it did not work well with the Seine Gate shifter?

I'm pleasantly surprised to have the Gate Shift kit compared (favorably I hope) with Hayden's Wevo shifter. However, I manufactured this product to compete with Robotek's version. I'm somewhat biased, but I think the Gate Shift kit does a pretty good job of reducing the chances of hitting the wrong gear, and at half the price of Robotek's.

As far as using the Gate Shift kit with the factory or the short shift version, that's up to the user. I've noted Mike's preference for him using the stock shifter. While I don't race my car, I do drive "spirited" on occasion and, while I don't advocate rushing the shifts, I also don't have any issues with the factory short shifter with or without the kit. My kit doesn't change the geometry of the shift linkage. If you don't have issues with the factory short shifter, then the addition of the Gate Shift kit should be an added plus.

If possible. I'd suggest driving someones short shift setup just to be sure.

My gripe was with the factory short shift kit. I liked the short throw though I did not feel as confident racing with it. I felt it might increase my chances of missing a gear.

The Seine system works perfect with either shifter, in fact the Seine system has a tailored spring for the factory short throw shifter.

I just got a Seine and it not only affords protection against the dreaded 5-2 shift but also automatically centers the shifter in the 3-4 plane. You never have to guess where you are. It is not as deluxe as the Wevo, but it costs a fraction of the cost and affords the same protection.
