Found my oxygen sensor unplugged.....

I was looking inside my egine bay tonight and I found my O2 sensor lead unplugged and lying on the engine tin. I would like to plug it back in but, for the life of me, I can't remember where it goes! I know that sounds stupid, but I never changed one yet (probably soon though) and my Bentley manual only shows the cat side with no explaination on where it leads too.

My father always said, " There are no stupid questions, just stupid mistakes!" But this one really takes the cake.

Where does the O2 sensor plug into? Please?

Thanks for your time

On the driver side of the engine you have three plug in connectors staring right at you. The top one is the o2 sensor

Thanks for the reply buttjoint... I see the three "staring right at me" and I assume you are talking about the three square connectors ( top one is white and the bottom two are brown ) and those a plugged in. I just can not find the round three pin receptical for the lead from the O2 sensor itself.

Sorry if I confused, I'm usually pretty good with this stuff.

sorry, that's the head temp sensor. the matching plug comes off the left side engine shelf, below the fuel filter. sometimes they're hard to spot. there are raised square tabs on each plug which you line up as they're pushed together.

Thanks John! That is exactly where it was, buried under a whole lot of stuff.

Let me ask you another question. As I was hooking up ther O2 sensor, I found two wires that were also not hooked up laying right next to the O2 sensor connector.

The first one is red with a black stripe and the other is brown with a white stripe. Do these two go to the oil pressure idiot light?

Thank you for your reply.
