Busted Sway Bar U Tab
A few days ago I heard a clunk when I turned a corner on the way home. Tonight I finally got a chance to investigate. I found the "U Tab" for my front sway bar broken off of the A Arm. I will get it welded back on (looks like the spot welds failed).
Until I get the U-Ttab put back on, I removed the drop link from that side. I figure that this will render the front sway bar totally ineffective. I keep my car in "balance", I also removed one drop link from my rear bar to render that end ineffective as well. My question: Until I get the U-Tab welded back on, other than the lack of working sway bars (the car did not have any bars when I bought it), am I creating a greater hazard than if I took them totally off prior to repairing the U-Tab? TIA

HarryD,
Disconnecting one drop link from the sway bar has the same effect as removing the entire bar from the vehicle. There is no harm done with only one end connected other than the car having a decidedly "loose" feel when cornering. Sherwood http://members.rennlist.org/911pcars |
