Hello there,
Just joined and just acquired my first 911, a 1973 T that A friend has had since new and quit using regularly about 14 years ago. It is in pretty good shape body wise and runs but need a complete restoration. It's an early 73 with MFI, and I just took it to a local mechanic that specializes in old Porsches and even went to Bosch MFI school in 1972, pretty cool. I plan, eventually to do all my own work, but want a professional hand in assessing the project and seeing if I can nurse a couple of years out of the powerplant while I do the body and interior work, and then concentrate on the running gear. I look forward to the project and interacting, (getting Q's answered), by all you seasoned 911 owners. Thanks BOB |

What a lucky guy to be the second owner of a '73 911! These cars are getting more rare as time goes by. Hope you plan to keep it in stock, restored condition. By the way, old cars in good, original condition are highly desirable. Learn about it & love it.

Yeah - Pictures of your Porsche and we prefer if there are scantily clad women in the picture or in a different picture - it really doesn't matter.

Bob,
Who did you buy it from? What color? Perhaps I know it. Who did the PPI? Best, Grady

Congratualtions and welcome to the nooby club - Im only a 2 month old Porsche owner. You will enjoy your visits here at Pelican BBS, it is full of info and friendly (for the most part) people. If you ever have a question that needs a reply ASAP, use the search button up top, odd's are the same question has been asked 20 times in the last year alone.
Your input is also welcomed since you have a fresh plate of ideas and learning along the way of your restoration. By the way, you didn't mention how often youplan on driving the car? (we all know you will drive it every day for the first month) but after that, what is your long term plan with it?

Allright already, pics are coming
Wow, Thanks for all the good replys, and I have a few pics but the are on my other computer that is getting it's LCD screen repaired. I promise I will take come more today and post. I've been out of town for the past few day, so have not been getting to the posts
To answer the questions, it is a silver 911 T with white and black houndstooth seats (not a popular color back then) but kind a retro looking now. I'm getting the mech work done by Dick Sparks at Nine Lives Racing, here in Denver. And I got the car back on Friday, all emission tested and ready to go. There were about 6 things wrong with the MFI system, due to conflicting errors by a series of mechanics over the years, it looked like. The linkages were all off, one nozzle was bad, several vacuum hoses blocked etc., but now it absolutely runs like a top. The leakdown numbers were all under 6%-8%. Dick said there was NO reason to rebuild this motor, just clean it up, fix the oil leaks, put new tensioners etc. So I'm very pleased. I pressure washed the engine Saturday, and will have to do that about 2 more times to get the grime off it. but it it really is a great car to drive now and will get better. I had no IDEA how much fun this little rocket is to drive!!!! I am so excited I could ... Well you know. Pics will come later today, Honest.. garbonzo |
