RSR project week deux... Engine questions...

So, the deal is this on the motor. I've pulled the plugs, drained the oil and pulled the sump. Found NOTHING out of the ordinary. The PO said he heard a "poof" one cylinder died, and oil was coming from the exhaust. There is oil in the air box, and in both exchangers.

Plugs are a bit carbonofied, but none looked to be fouled in any way. No stray metal bits in the motor, nor any sign of metal wear on the magnetic thingie in the drain plug.

Any ideas as to why this thing might have a dead cylinder???

A shot up the guts:

Progress was good, more dismantling and the begining of MANY hours to come of cleaning, cleaning and more cleaning!!

The shots:

Thine worthy steed comforting it's breathen:

Any idea what the heck this might be??? It's McGyvered into the fuse box...

Sheesh, that rats nest looked like my car that had a POS aftermarket alarm. The previous owner said he removed it, but a LOT of it remained

get a decent voltmeter and turn the key to hot and go through the wires and tape off the ones that are not hot. it should be pretty straightforward then you trace them to where they come from and simply take them out. the PO on my car had two alarms left in it without the horn, just the wiring, i ended up taking out about a hundred or so feet of 14 guage wire. so much nicer looking and no loose ends to worry about. have fun! that white car looks great btw.
