Project '72 part 6.. (lots of pics)

Well, its been awhile since I posted an update. I even had to search back myself to see which "part" I was on! It has been a slow process to say the least. I have been collecting parts and just stuffing them into the "assembly room", formerly the kids playroom. Here are some pics..

The first two are of the oil cooler scoop that will force air from the opening in front up "through" the hood and over the top of the car.

I also installed all new W/S for all the glass.

Here is the door with all the hardware reinstalled.

Rear view of the Saftey Devices Cage.

The script waiting to go on..

WAY too many boxes full of parts waiting their turn..

Bumpers, wevo shifter, seats, (in the big box in back), and other..

New brakes, monoballs, bushings, spring plates,. etc..

Here is the 16 x7 and 9s Fuchs (street setup, going with 16 x 10s and 12s for track)with Wevo battery box and more..

Hopefully I can spend more time putting this ride back together than I have in the last 6 months!! More later..

I thought that the Safety Devices cages had welded in plates to the car that the cage bolted into. This cage looks like the Autopower bolt through the floor cage.

Car looks Great. I just have to ask why you chose to use a bolt in cage as opposed to a weld in one??

Great job on the car.

Thanks guys,.

I have a 993 3.6 sitting on a pallet in my garage just waiting!

Autopower bars main hoops mount to the floor, not the side channel. I actually welded in the main mount, but bolted in the parts that could come out. Not exactly sure why I just didnt weld in all the points, but some day I may want to take the forward or rear bars out for street only driving, but the more I think about it, I probably wont!

The goal on this car was to have a track car that I could drive on the street. That is why I didnt go with Lexan windows, and put the mixer box back in, and all the other hardware that race cars dont need.

Its going to look very close to the green one above. I have the exact same front bumper, spoiler and splitter, although Im running a ducktail for now.

>what brand color is that<

Its PPG color # 137 Gelb Greun, or Lime Green. (factory Porsche color in the 70s) The photos dont look exactly right, its really a smooth creamy color, very close to Kawasaki green, or a green M&M.

>but where are the kids supposed to play; in the street?<

They be safer in the street than if they touched anything in my "parts room".

>I have a 993 3.6 sitting on a pallet in my garage <

I am a little concerned about this however. I had a 993 and was not impressed with the power at all. Of course I had it right after a C2Turbo. I went round and round in my head for weeks deciding on either another turbo engine or going with a N/A engine. I dont want a "built" engine due to relialability and driveability issues. I decided on the -best- N/A engine primarilily because I do a lot of Auto-X and the turbo sux for that. I have looked at the TPC supercharger kit though... hhhmmm,, tempting.
