Question How much would you pay?

1972 model year
manual, dont know the engine specs for that year but I know everything is stock.
the color is a light metallic blue, black leather interior, manual gearchange, no rust, less than 45,000 miles, original owner, left hand drive.

the owner is a close friend of the family, the car is basically mine if i want it, however, i dont want to insult hime. the car is currently in a climate controlled garage in england.

Are you sure man enough to handle a '72? That's the question you should be asking yourself.

What is it? A T, E or an S?

Hey Tyson, you looked very official last weekend I must say. I have no idea what model the car is. All I know is that it is on the other side of the Atlantic ocean in prime condition waiting for me to arrange some transport papers. At this point I would just love to have my own Porsche and a longhood no less, even a 4 door!!!! Haha, I will have to get in touch with the owner, not an easy task.

But depending on any model in the aforementioned condition, what would be a fair market price??

A documented one owner 45K mile, unrusted car is pretty damn valuable. Based on current market info, and assuming it's a coupe, I'd say:

T = $15,000
E = $18,000
S = $30,000

Targa:

T = $12,000
E = $14,000
S = $25,000

YMMV

Remember if it's been sitting or running the rubber susp. bushings will be shot. The engine could be frozen too... but it is still a rare find and worth some bucks.

T = $12,000
E = $14,000
S = $25,000

if it's in reasonably good shape
then you can see the following prices in Europe at specialised dealers :

T 22000
E 24000
S > haven't seen any listed ( except one on a french 911 for sale site for 33000 Euro's )

early 911's cost more in Europe, lot's of dealers import from the US because they are a lot cheaper there
RHD's might be even more scarse ... so prices might be even higher.. or not , don't know about that...

I just called my friend with the car, it was bought originally in Socal as a left hand drive car, imported to England where his offices are, driven for less than 15,000 miles and stored in his garage. He said he took it out for a spin about two months ago after he had it taken to his local shop for a once over and it still runs fine after the refreshing. It also happens to be an S model with black leather interior. He basically wants to give it to me and have me pay for the shipping as he wants his garage space back and would rather "give it to a friend than sell it to someone he doesnt know." Doesnt sound like a bad deal now i have to figure out shipping costs on that.

There are folks here with experience shipping from England -- Toomany911s comes to mind.

That's an incredible deal.

Congratulations!

Very, very fortunate. My advice? Be very very appreciative, and work diligently, daily, to get that thing transported into your garage.

That's one hell of a friend. Maybe you should buy him a Harley or something like that in return.

If it's a '72S I would get that thing on a boat immediately. Even being a Targa I would say a 45k mile car with no rust is easily pushing $30K.

Ryan, give Dave at TRE a call. I think he's transported cars over there.

I don't think it's much more than a thousand bucks for a one-way shipment.

Act fast, before your friend wises up.

These folks can bring that puppy right into Long Beach and park it right next to my wife's office at the port on the pier where that ship berths. PM me for further details, if needed, and I will put you in touch with someone. I don't know a thing about shipping myself.

My commission is a ride.

Damn Ryder, looks like you scored! Sweet!

Better resist the urge to modify this one though.
