Thanks, Kevin. I need tires soon. Hey guys, I've got a question.

The Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 is rated above the widely-worshipped Bridgestone S-03, and is less expensive. Is there a problem with the Goodyear, or does it perform in the same class with the S-03?

Also, I cannot afford 8 or 9" Fuchs right now, and I am concerned about the poor handling of using a tire that is significantly wider than the wheel. On my 6" and 7" x16 Fuchs the 205 and 225 sizes are substantially wider than the wheel. What if I went to a 195 front and 215 rear? I could even go with a lower tire, which would improve performance even more (I do not need anything close to the tall gearing my 915 has), so I'm wondering about the wisdom of using 195/45 x 16 and 215/40 x 16 instead of the normal (and too wide) 205/55x16 and 225/50x16. Comments?

BTW, with the $60 rebate these tires (the Goodyears) would total $364 plus shipping. Good pricing if you're poor like me.

Stick with 205 55 16 and 225 50 16, they handle pretty well. By going to the smaller tires you'll also be decreasing their rated load rating which will make them run hotter than the normal size. I don't think switching to the other tires is a good move.

But I'm also definitely no expert.

Souk,

You can have her. I'm done with her................

SuperJim,

Those Goodyears are supposed to be excellent tires. Especially in the rain. I can see your reasoning for the tire sizing. The stock tire sizes do seem a little wide for our rims. Steve makes a good point I hadn't thought of. Load rating. But, 195/65 and 215/60 were standard sizes on 15's for our cars. I'd assume you get more load rating with the bigger sidewalls on the 15's. Also, I think you may have a hard time finding those sizes you posted. 16in. HP tires are becoming tougher to come by.

I'd like to try the Goodyears myself. But I have plenty of brand new tires, so I won't be doing any purchases any time soon.

Here's a comparison test against the mighty SO-3

Goodyear vs. Bridgestone vs. Michelin

marcesq wants to keep his body narrow.. so he has experience with A Lot of tire sizes. he's posted his info more than once.
Oh yeah, he does a bunch of DE to test his widths.

Now if Bridgstone would only release their 275/35x17 performance tires to the general public
