The WEVO parts are ready to go into the rebuilt 915. New 3rd and 5th gears will better accomodate the 3.6 Varioram in the 79SC. Needs an improvement in shifting so...
Here are pics of WEVO components - we've all heard how well they work....now lets see some good pics ![]() Craig Rennstore This coupler was by far the most impressive piece - what a work of art |

Craig:
Nice hardware. Why is it so expensive? I mean, we are looking at close to 2k there in your pictures. Manufacturing the parts, even though they are very nicely done- in the time of CNC machines, shouldn't be that much, even if the production numbers are very low? I had my drivetrain out. I had heard about the internal gate. Went to their webpage to go buy it. Needless to say, it will have to wait. There must be some serious development work and time involved. Maybe they are catching up with that cost and we can expect the parts to become cheaper in 2010? For 2k I can start thinking about a G50 conversion once the trans is shot. Ah, you know what, Wevo makes G50 hardware soon too! ![]() George |

I seems as if the coupler isn't really anything more than a simple universal joint. I'm sure it would be pretty simple to create something similar with a lathe or mill if one had some free time. What about machining the oem coupler to accept some small bearings or some bronze bushings in place of the original plastic bushings? Doesn't seem like it would be that big of a project if you had the equipment.

I wondered the same thing. Why is the internal gate shifter so much? Is it a casting?

Paul, your interior looks so mean. Very let's-get-down-to-business. It's bad-ass-black and I love it!!

Shrup, looks great! Did you paint the shifter base yourself? If so, what "color" did you use to match the WEVO shifter?

Isn't the G50 notably heavier? I briefly looked into this option, and I remember that it wasn't a straightforwards swap...you had to made room to accommodate the G50 box. Sorry for the lack of details, but I expunged them from my brain when I decided not to go that route.

George,
Just for clarification, that's a $1600 package that Craig911 has on display. I am sure I can not achieve anything positive in attempting to justify the prices, but a $400 over-statement is worth correcting for both re-sellers and potential buyers. Regards Hayden |

Read the fourth post from the bottom ("dean") in this topic Need to modify the torsion bar housing in an earlier car to accept the G50. You also need the pedal cluster, hydraulic lines & shifter assembly.

Ive read posts from a few people here saying that the WEVO stuff is one of the best bang for the buck upgrades we can do to our cars. Do all 3 mods (shifter, coupler, internal gate) need to be done to get the benefit or is there significant improvement from the shifter and coupler alone?
Paul, your interior looks awesome. Nice work! |

There are very few aftermarket items available for a P car that are better engineered that Porsche originally did it.
Takes a decent brain trust, some cash and some really good engineering to pull that off even 20 years later. The WEVO 915 set up is one of those rare exceptions. No one who knows me and heard my rant on WEVO or better yet played in or driven my car has ever questioned the cost. Pretty obvious that the WEVO set up is light years ahead of anything else you can do for a 915. That matters to some and not to others for various reasons. I paid retail for my WEVO setup and I suspect Hayden gets a little shaky everytime I post wondering what I'll say next ![]() It is the best money you'll ever spend on a 911 with a 915 transmission. That you can take to the bank. I would bet Hayden could offer a money back free trial and never have any of his parts returned. But why bother? The stuff is worth every penny and then some. Only guys I've seen not impressed are the guys who haven't tried it. I didn't buy mine until after I had played with one myself. I couldn't justify the costs. I had just rebuilt my tranny and coupler if that tells you anything. Took me less than 30 seconds to decide I had to have one. The demo car didn't even have the gate. And it was clearly that much better than anything else out there. Paul was watching me during that 30 sec. demo and then tried it himself. Craig and I drive together and has heard me rant about the WEVO since I put mine in. Sherman, the shifter has the most feel for the driver. The coupler next and finally the internal gate. The gate however is the best thing you can do for your tranny's durability. Do the gate when the tranny is out...add the other two whenever you have the coin. I second everything rdane says. I have mine for a little less than a week and it's a pretty amazing piece. I appreciate both the enhanced shifting feel and the quality of materials. I was debating Seine vs. Robotek vs. WEVO and now realize that the WEVO is the only way to go because it replaces the internals in the shifter body iteself. This is where most fo the slop is coming from. The Robo or Seine aren't bad units per se but they don't switch our as much stuff so they could never be expected to perform to the level of the WEVO.
