Supertrapps onto SSIs?

Has anyone ever mounted Supertrapps onto SSIs? I did some quick measuring and it seems like the 18" (or so) Supertrapps wouldn't stick out *too* far if they were mounted to the flanges on the SSIs. I think I'm going to try this. Weld a flange onto to the Supertrapps and bolt 'em on see what happens.

Why on earth would I want to do this? I simply love the sound of those things. I had Supertrapps (with headers) on my 2.7 and it just sounded "right" to me.

No offense, but the Supertrap design seems very flawed.

I had that setup on my '73T.
Still in a box if you care to give them a test fit.

RarlyL8 - that looks beautiful! I think I am actually going to get my old Supertrapps back from a friend here in town and try them out. You'll have to check them out when I get them mounted.

125shifter - I'll admit that the Supertrapps are not the best solution for noise reduction and power, but they aren't that bad (see the post a day or so ago regarding their use on a carbureted 3.2 - they only made slightly less hp than a factory sport muffler). Plus, they are a very light solution compared to the factory muffler. The ones I used before (and will be using again) were modified to use 18 disks instead of the normal 12. They actually worked pretty well.

Plus, they sound good. IMHO, they are the best sounding muffler I've heard on a 911 (and I've heard alot of exhausts) - personal preference thing, I suppose.
