Just because you warn somebody that your going to be rude, doesn't make it right. That's like warning someone your going to hit them for no reason and then do it. Does the warning make it all right? (not the greatest example - but you get the point)
Let's give Shawn some credit. He is smart enough to figure out what's safe or not safe and to make his own decisions. I don't see anyone flaming Jack Olson for his roll bar. He drives his p-car on the street without a helmet. That's his choice. Shawn was trying to make someone else's installation go a little easier. Nothing more - nothing less. He didn't ask how we liked the looks of his roll bar or if we approved of his padding, etc. If someone wants to start a thread about roll bar safety in a street-driven Porsche - go for it. If board members are so concerned about the safety issue I wonder why they waited so long and haven't posted before...........instead they hijacked this thread to get on their soap box. YMMV

Maybe I missed some of the posts, but I believe George was making a comment about the safety of rear seat occupants (Zeke's kids in particular).
From the other, well discussed thread on roll bars for the street, I think the consensus was that there are inherent risks one considers and that a roll bar/cage is an individual choice for the owner. Not necessarily so for children and involuntary rear seat occupants with tubes and mounting brackets in close proximity. As for negative comments about the particular roll bar you purchased ........ probably not appropriate in this thread. BTW Zeke, nice install. Sherwood |

Milt,
Sorry, but the safety police aren't done with you yet. We don't approve of the way you are attaching your fire extinguisher. In an accident, the cover on the tunnel could break and and send the bottle flying around your interior like a heat seeking missle. Sometimes you just can't win around here. ![]()

I received three concussions on the way to the Indy F1 race over the weekend.
I had my camera sitting in the back seat. One time I stopped kinda fast and it flew right thru the windshield and killed four ducks that were flying kinda low. ![]()

And, there was a very lengthy thread strictly about the safety aspect just before this got started. So, this thread was hijacked. I used the car in a lead-follow sesseion at CA Speedway on Sat and I loved the bar and harness setup. I saw two 911 race cars with the same exact deal as Shawn and I have and they passed POC tech a month ago for racing together on a high speed oval/road course. That doesn't change a thing here, about what I said or anyone else. I'm just pointing it out FYI. |

Kids still go for rides. All the interior pieces in the rear are slated to go. The seats stay in until I can find the wife a '72T. Then the kids can ride around with her!
