Question #1
I have only drove a few 911's when I was on the test drive, so I was a little gentle with the seller there. Now with my own car, I drive it a little harder.
My question is, when in first gear and starting from a dead stop, the car accelerates quickly, but when you hit like 3,500 rpm, it seems like a turbo engaged or something, it just takes off. Is this normal, or should you have strong acceleration from the start???? The guy I bought it from only drove it a few times a year. So it may need a tune up. Any thoughts? Thanks, Ed

Yes, it's normal. It's what they call "coming on cam".

You've been introduced to the 911 torque curve.

ed dont number your questions, if i did, i would be on #2037. your car is sweet, and nice home! love that torque curve. that is why you will find yourself tooling around in the upper revs. yay!

Mines pretty much the same it seems incredibly docile at lower revs, when i first drove it i imagined smoking tyres and whiplash acceleration.
but once you get above 3000 rpm the car pulls like a train through all gears and you end up having to lift your hand off the steering wheel to see how fast your doing ,and what ever you were overtaking is a speck in your rear view mirror ![]()

Ed, you better not ask questions like that around here, it will lead to instant money spend.
![]() Here goes; you need to take the cat off and store it for future snog testing use. Install a Euro pre-muffler, and a GHL single in single out.. or any sport muffler. This set up will give you better acceleration even at lower RPM. ![]()
