It looks nice, and I like the color combination/dislike the tail.

But I don't understand the 'celebrity value' thing. To me, that would add about a dollar. I guess if your girlfriend or wife were old enough to have had a crush on Redford, that might make a nice gift.

Appraised value $80,000! I guess they don't read Excellence . Its nice, somewhat rare (because of the TL, not the Redford connection), low miles - $30k tops IMO.

Besides, we all know Bob really drives an old green 912.

In general, celebrities are not known for their careful collector car ownership. I'm sure that Redford is no worse than most POs, but you never know. There was a spread on Sammy Haggar's cars in Automobile a few months ago. Suffice it to say, he is not a guy that you want to buy a used car from. The interior of his Ferrari Boxer looked like a cat had been living in it.

I understand that Ferrari interiors look like that pretty quickly.

But I agree. Eddie Van Halen is another who is infamous for overlooking small things like oil changes.

80k he he he just goes to show you that you can have any appraised value you like as long as you find the right appraiser, and pay him accordingly. Tech you’re right there is an extra dollar of premium in there from me cause Redford owned it once a long time ago, but only a buck.

Not 80K, especially if his carcus was in it. It would stink up the place to high heaven. They sold a Corvette like that for $500.

I remember that car from when it was new, I drove it once for some reason when I worked at Bob Smith Porsche/Audi in Hollywood in about 1987. It's still in nice shape, I'll give it that.

The seller incorrectly identifies the interior color as "nougat" or something, anyone who is familiar w/ late '70s Porsche colors would instantly recognise it as "Cork". It was a "color to sample" interior, (as verified on the COI), he liked that color from a previous 911 and ordered it. Porsche was the only car company in the world besides Rolls Royce, AFAIK, that offered that option. (Color/interior to sample). It is the one and only thing that makes the car unique, assuming that nobody copied him at the time), it is probably the only car like it in existence.

I agree about the celebrity thing, I think that it adds a little depending on the history for a collector, (Elvis Presley's Caddy vs. some porn star's Camaro), but this car will be lucky to find a buyer at normal market value, like most used cars right now.

At least the ad didn't say, "never smoked in", I remember that the ashtray of this car was literally overflowing w/ Benson & Hedges butts, ashes everywhere, it was one of the most smoked-in cars that I have ever been in. It certainly has cleaned up nice.

Probably an air freshener!

God, that interior is beautiful if you like Cork leather. I love the '80s car phone still attached. Gives it that "preservation class" look, as opposed to a bunch of holes in the console.

John with an H. Jerry said that he was sure Jon Voight just misspelled his own name, like sometimes Jerry spells his name with an I and a G.

Isn't that a tamagotchi? I can just picture Bob now - driving along in his TL cab, top down, puffing on a Benson & Hedges, feeding his virtual pet. That image alone is worth $80k, don't you think?

I guarantee that car has been DRIVEN. Redford likes to drive and likes to drive fast! If this were an Audi I would urge caution, but it is a Porsche and clearly it has been maintained.

IMHO if it goes for more that 15% over market for a nice example then we're talking spooky stalker situation. Never understood the celebrity markup thang.

The "cork" interior I have seen has almost a yellow/orange tint to it that photographs well - but looks more carrot like in person.
