Update on my turn signal problem, now need help with front turn signal assembly.
I had posted about my problems with my turn signals on my '79 SC and low and behold i forgot to check the front left bulb. Doh! Sure enough its all black on the inside and somewhat corroded. So we took it out and cleaned the thing and noticed the plugs were pushed kinda far back. So my dad was bending them back in place and we noticed the spring had fallen out. So we unscrewed that plate and got the spring out and were going to put it back in but that plate didnt have enough slack to get it out to put it back in. So now i'm wondering is there something i'm missing? Also I saw the picture of the front turnsignal assembly for sale on pelican and it looks like a a little box but how does one remove that box to replace it? Thanks guys.

Had a similar problem with turn signals not working. On one side, the problem was a corroded fuse, on the other side, a wire/connector had come adrift.
I had the same problem trying to get the turn signal unit back on the car. In the end, I gave the wires a good tug, and the wiring from inside the trunk came out a couple of inches, and gave me enough room to plug all the bits into the back of the turn signal light unit. If I had to do it again, I would show a bit more respect and feed it from the trunk side!! Harry

Simple...remove the steering wheel and steering column cover...
Bring it by this weekend if you want help...I'll be in the garage all weekend (just about)...Downer's Grove is less than 30 minutes from Oswego. |

Maybe I misunderstood.... are you working at the front of the car or the steering wheel...

Nope i'm just trying to replace the front turn signal assembly not the turn signal switch. Its the blinker on the front bumper. This is the picture from our host.
Can any tell me how to take the old one out so i can put a new one in? |

I had a similar problem, and bought a new assembly. As I recall, I learned that you actually have to remove the front bumper in which the turn signal resides first. In my case, the light socket was corroded, so in order to avoid removing the bumper, I replaced the corroded light socket on my old assembly with the new light socket of the new assembly, and then installed the new lens and its gasket.
