new girl in the garage

Meet Della--the latest addition to the Stoops garage of mayhem. She's a 1972 911T non-sunroof coupe from NC. Spent most of her early years in SC, almost pure stock except for the weird (and remarkably ineffective) aftermarket mirrors, ancient cassette deck and 40IDA Webers. The 2.4 is a little tired, but the overall condition of the car is very solid and a perfect basis for a street/track hot rod.

The "Baja-look" stance will soon be a thing of the past. Also, she sees the numbers "3.2" in her future. This project should keep me out of the bingo halls for a while.

What? There's a market for used plastic mirrors? I guess eBay proves that there's a buyer for everything. Seriously, the mirrors are better than nothing, but not exactly period correct. Lightweight, though.....

I feel the same way about Flag mirrors & screw period correctness, it's all about the weight.

These older 911s are starting to grow on me! I like it, and the color too!

Yeah, the interior is really sweet. In a car that vintage, paisley, red, and other such colors do it justice rather than look gaudy. I like the car a lot.

The mirrors are Hella. They come up from time to time on german Ebay.
Do a search with "Hella spiegel*", or "Hella Rückspiegel" on german Ebaymotors. Most sellers will ship to the USA if you ask them before.

Outstanding. White looks great when polished, and the red interior is not boring. You might want to go for red door panels -- that would have been how the car was delivered.

Schrup's right about the weight issue; those flag mirrors are heavier than they look. But I want a combo of period correctness and function. Talbots, hmmmm?

Thanks for all the comments. It's going to be a work in progress, for sure. And a year from now, she'll look REALLY different.
