ST project update: Wow! its been a while

It seems like forever since I last worked on the project. I guess the last real progress was before Christmas. A new job, an 1800 mile move and life just got in the way.

Not that the project is in its new home I got to work. This weekend was quite productive I am starting to tie up a few things on the list getting ready to fire up the engine.

I was able to fully plumb my oil system including an external Carrera cooler and hard lines. The hardest part was mounting the oil tank. I had to "modify" the engine bay side wall to mount a 78 oil tank instead of the 71 tank. The fittings are completely different in configuration and size. yes large quantities of sheet metal were removed.

Next I was able to start plumbing fuel lines. The carbs are setup with linkage and fuel lines. I did run into a snag trying to get the return line from the tunnel to the tank. See here.

Fuel tank return fittings

Since I was done with my plumbing duties I started on electrical. I was able to get all finalized connections to the engine and have all guages mounted and wired. I even swapped the numbered oil temp guage face from the 71 to the 78. I will be running the late style guages since they are in superior condition. I then moved on to the fuse box area and was starting to sort the nest until light waned.

It felt good to get back on track. Stay tuned for more updates. I hope to be running by next weekend if I can find the fittings.
