Trick Console Delete

Has anyone deleted their console and kept their A/C controls by relocating them, or substituting new controls? Any creative ideas?

I would (possibly) like to put a fire extinguisher down there, plus I like the look sans console better.

Please don't tell me to remove the A/C, I'm personally choosing to keep it.

Thanks very much, in advance.

funy you should post about this,l was tossing the idea around myself for my 84.l don`t see a problem relocating the A/C controls, but due to the nature of the wiring l don`t think you`d get the controls as close to the dash as you might like without some involved mods.l just got a CanCan red leather interior with the red console trim so l`ll be keeping the stock set up.At one time l even had the 930S console, didn`t last though, too eighties for me

I have a friend that relocated his heating and AC controls in his S10 Truck to the Glove compartment. He needed to make the change so he could fit his new radio in the dash. It's pretty trick and didn't involve that much work. I know it's not a 911, but the principles would be the same, however you'd probably have to lengthen the wires a little, nothing a little solder and shrink wrap couldn't take care of. Good Luck.

I've had my controls relocated for the past two years, but just yanke he ac out yesterday... But, it is very possible and there is just enough slack to move the lines to where the ashtray is. I removed my ashtray and fabbed up an aluminum bracket which matched the dash contour, painted it black and mounted both the fan and temperature controller to it.

Thanks, Brian. That's the kind of thing I was thinking about. Maybe make the bracket so a hot lap can attach to it too...
