It's just a strap. They stick out like that when they're excited.

Curt !!! Where you been ? I miss your posts and pics ! I heard you all did well at Daytona, good job. This is my twin daughters track car, no way they'll drive R-Gruppe #1 car so i figured this was the best way out. The door pulls are turned because...... they're RS america panels. Steve

I like the seat belt setup. Where did you get the yellow belts?

Hi Bob, It's a 68, AZ 50K mile car with a modified 912 motor. The rear light panels are GT-Racing, minimal fitting. i've used his stuff on a few projects and the fit is excellent. I did add a rear window light bar as suggested on Pelican by fellow R-Gruppe guys, a must have ! Your silver lightweight is spectacular ! I almost made it to EASY when you first brought it there, nice job, you did an outstanding job !
Ryan, I got the belts from PEP in CA, they are on the 356 Registry website under vendors. Thanks for the looks guys, it was worth the effort. Steve

What are these 'light weights' weighing in at?

Nice cars! I like the exhaust on the yellow. I'll bet it sounds good. There was a 912 at the recent HSR races at Ca Speedway and it sounded great! You had to listen twice, because otherwise, it might have passed as a 911 when they are both at low and idle rpm.

How much does it weigh?........I'd prefer the answer in kg (we are quite advanced in South Africa, we've got electricity...sometimes!!!)

Miggs-Your "R" looks like the real thing ! I like the front markers and fuel tank set-up.
Zeke- It fakes out a lot of people, at Watkins Glen long course you can run anything down in the turns but passing on long straights DON'T work !4 speed and lack of HP.
Steve- Near as I can tell it's about 1950 lbs (884.5g). All insulation and undercoating inside and outside is gone. Interior alone had about 60 lbs of factory insulation. The carpet is all lightweight RS style, seats are Peter Zwinakis fiberglass repros which weigh almost nothing. Those stock seats weigh a lot. Stock weight for a 68 912 is listed at approx 2095 lbs (?). Wheels are 6" fuchs with 205-55-15's with 1/4" spacers in the rear. Brakes are stock solid rotor type and work quite well on the track. I did find that the rear rain tray holds up a lot of air flow to the motor for cooling. At about 80 degrees last weekend I ran about 235 degrees oil temp and 350 degree cylinder head temp ( # 3). Rain tray out dropped the temp by 10 degrees. Steve
