Turn signal switch part number?
My turn signal switch has some issues.
The slightest touch of the switch will cause the high-beams to turn on. When clicking back to the default position from left or right, it'll turn the high-beams on. A slight wiggling will stop it, but again, the slightest touch or some bumps will cause the high-beams to turn on. So anyways, I remember there is a switch that can be replaced by taking off the steering wheel, but where can I buy this part? I've searched Pelican but can only find the whole turn signal assembly. I'm pretty sure Pelican sold just the switch before...right?

I have never seen anything sold except the entire assembly. The contacts for the high-low beams are riveted on the turn signal assembly on my '74. I recently had the same problem and was able to adjust/separate the contacts with a small screwdriver. I did not have to remove any wires. They were visible once I removed the steering wheel and the plastic cover.

It's part number C-613-305-01 in the Pelican catalog.
Don't bother trying to fix the old one. Most of the time the fix is, at best, temporary. If you're going to go to the hassle of pulling the old one, replace it. It's an easy job. The toughest part is replacing the wires on the back of the headlight switch. Take you time, and do them one-by-one. Also, now would be a good time to install the Sucro headlight relay kit, to prevent this problem from happening again.

Mine was a brand new (NOS) switch and I have the Sucro relays. If the contacts are fused together or burned, they would never work correctly. If the lights only default to bright when the lever moves, it seems it is purely a mechanical response. If the contacts are visible on his '86 as on my car, he can easily see if the contacts are damaged. On mine, after removing the wheel and column cover, you can access the switch contacts. If you want a better angle, just remove the two screws that hold the assembly in place and then you can pull it out a bit an rotate it for a better look. It sounds like a contact alignment issue to me. It is not rocket science to see that if the contacts meet when jostled, that they would cause this problem. Since yoiu do not have to do the hardest part (the wires) to do as I suggest, you do not have much invested by trying. It is work you would have to do to replace the switch anyways. It only took me a half hour to fix mine...but I have had it apart several times so I am fairly proficient.

This might help. (Disclamer..this is a '74 part, but yours should work similarly). When you move the Stalk/Lever to change from high/low/flash, it pushes the plunger in the same direction. The plunger causes the top part of the contact lever to move. There is a small piece of nonconductive material at the top of the contact lever that moves the contacts together and apart. The contacts are much like those used for ignition points. If they are dirty, you can clean them up. If the contacts are not fused or badly burned, you should be able to adjust them slightly by bending the long strips of metal they are attached to slightly. If you stalk is worn out completely and there is so much play in the lever that you cannot adjust it to your satisfaction, you would have to replace the entire assembly.
