ERP Bump Steer Correction Kits - 911's
or the weltmeister kit supplied by our host.
Jack and others using these may be able to provide advice here. I desparately need one of these kits. but i have checked out the install instructions and it says you have cut down the lowering spacer to make adjustments, is that right you have to take a saw to these things? what if you want make future adjustments and the spacers now too short?!!! i thought the whole point was that they were infinitely adjustable - doesnt seem like it. that seems like alot of money to pay for something i've got to hack. any advice appreciated.

Hi Rich
I know Ninemeister in the UK supplies a similar kit to the ERP one on their website : http://www.9mracing.co.uk/html/modules.php?op=modload&name=Shop&file=index&req=viewproduct&productid=642&category=307&parentid=3 Might be worth giving Colin a call. Their kit seems to include shims to allow adjustment. Cheers Anil |

Are you sure you need it? Might try the $13 rack spacer first. That seemed to solve my bump steer problem, well enough for me anyway. Your car is lowered a lot, though.

Dickster,
I have both the spacers and the ERP kit and I love it. After watching my in car video I was amazed at how smooth the steering wheel is now. It sure made a difference with my car. ![]()

that sounds more like it. thanks. my car is lowered so much that simple washers arent enough. slider thanks for the pic - yours hasnt been cut down? i dont think mine would need it either, i would prefer some adjustability tho'.

Couple of things:
--- the amount of free space above a rack is very limited. Assuming the ideal that you're trying to get "back to" is Euro suspension / steering geometry...you can only lower by 1/2" to fit the ( max size) 1/2" spacer to make "right". However, most folks go to 1" or so below Euro height, and a 1/2" spacer only corrects bump-steer to a "degree". The ERP kit solves this problem, ...for a dual purpose car I would also buy the little rubber booty thingies that seal the ball-joint ends from crud. I've catalogued a prior answer on this..and I don't have it in front of me..but I think the company name is "Seals-It"...Steve Weiner would know for sure. ---Wil Ferch

The rotor is an ATE slotted roter.
The brake cooling disk is from OG Racing. It is fiberglass and has a 3" end for the brake hose. I did not have to cut down my ERP kit. With the hieght of my car, the 1/2" rack spacers and the ERP kit was perfect.

Does anyone know of a UK agent for the ERP kit? Approximate prices?
And does anyone know what the Colin Belton/ Ninemeister kit is like compared to the ERP kit? Thanks, Jon H.

no, affraid not. the ERP kit is US$355 shipped or £205 at the current (excellent) exchange rate. plus of course taxes if you get caught. the Ninemeister kit appears to be fully adjustable. i emailed smart racing and they said they've never (or rarely) had to cut down the spacers. they recommend putting small washers under the rack for small adjustments!! oh well, they're the experts i guess.

So including taxes the ninemeister kit is almost the same cost as the ERP kit then. What are you going to use Rich? I'm thinking of using the Ninemeister kit, at least Colin's there for advice etc. What do you think?

Thats a good idea Rich, although when i spoke to Colin about it a while ago he was reluctant to give me too much info, i think he was worried i would copy his design! He called me today to let me know my gearbox was ready for collection so i might pick up a kit next week. I'll post some pics up if i do.
Regards, Jon H.

I think these kinds of kits are terribly expensive for what they are...and more-so because they're "value priced" for the Porsche market.
I remember seeing almost identical units made for Corvettes a few years back that were about half ERP cost...and when I called them (then)...they said they would be ready in 1-2 years for a 911 product. But...I forgot their names..."Baehr Racing" ...I seem to recall. Anyone? ---Wil Ferch

i have emailed them, but nothing yet. i dont know how they expect to sell them if you cant see what you're buying! if you pick up a kit some pics would be great. i assume that since i have the turbo track rod kit already i wont be needing anything else.

Yeah if u already have the 930 arms you just need the standard kit. You might have more luck with the pictures than me, when i enquired Colin was a bit secretive cos it was a new product, and he knew i was an engineer so would just make my own once i'd seen his version!
Out of interest the cheapest i can find quality rod ends is about £25 per side, and id quote approx £40 to machine the other bits, so your looking at a manufacturing cost of less than £100.

the kits use spherical rod ends, is that what you found for £25? actually if i use the bump steer kit i'll have a pair of brand new turbo rod ends for sale!

Hi Rich, i went to 9M on tuesday and asked about the bump-steer kit again. Colin didn't have any in stock i could take a look at and when i mentioned that there was no picture on his site he said he never got round to it. He then admitted that 9M had spent quite a long time computer modelling various setups and was worried someone might copy their design.
I think i'm gonna buy a pair of spherical rod ends and make my own kit. The only concern i have is finding a bolt strong enough to be safe for road use. Any suggestions? Also if anyone out there already has a kit, could they measure the distance the rod end is spaced away from the steering arm? If this is sucessful i'll gladly supply anybody else thats wants one of these kits. Regards, Jon H.
