Just did it. You have to remove the front bumper first...kind of a pain in the arse! Two bolts on each side accessed under the hood latch panel near the battery boxes. Then one more bolt that mounts the bumper to the fender, accessed through each wheel well.

Once bumper is off, four torx bolts must be removed...suggest dousing in PBlaster due to almost certain corrosion. Are you both trying to get the bumper-guard-less look? I just ordered the one-piece trim that allows this. Best of luck!

Nice color by the way...what is it?

That car is SCHWEET!!!!

Your bumper trim will have holes in it from the guards, and mine were chewed up where the guards had been.

Pelican only sells an expensive kit that includes stuff you don't need. I found mine at EuroEast (www.used9parts.com). I got the trim and a set of nice used chrome rear guards for $75. My car had all of it's chrome trim blacked out (ARGHH!!!) and I'm bringing back the chrome look.

Pelican sells a 'deco trim kit' in the S or economy widths. I don't know if they sell just the front piece. I'd call and ask.

With the bumper guards, is the rubber front trim cut, or does it just tend to discolor from lack of exposure to the sun?

Both...there will be a hole drilled in the middle of the trim for each guard.

Do you have to remove the bumperettes to take the rubber trim off or can you just slide the trim out? I hope it is just a simple slide because I don't feel like removing the whole bumper just to get to a nicked piece of rubber trim.

I took these off my '71T years ago and did not have to remove the bumper. Poke around the front of the trunk and look for access holes.

On-ramp did you just get that car? It was in the 911T.org gallery and someone was asking me if I knew who owned it. Was that you?

I even thought about filling the strip mounting holes and not re-installing the center trim panel. I could also just leave the holes there and go for the really light weight look. IMO I like the front bumper without the pads. Also FWIW my trim piece (72 T) does not have holes from the bumper brackets.

If you look in your trunk you will see some white plastic plugs that are a little bigger than a quarter. Simply remove those and there will be two bolts underneath that will enable you to remove the bumperettes. You will see once they come off if your "S" trim was cut underneath the bumperettes or if they were installed over the trim with out cutting.

Good luck, BEAUTIFUL car!!!

OK, same vein of thinking....

I'm going to paint my 67, and would prefer no bumperettes....it appears the thing to do is remove them, and the trim, before it goes to the paint shop, yes?

ditto for the rear?

thx
