What to ask for some 15 x7 15 x 8 fuchs

I have a local guy interested in the 15 x 7 and 15 x 8 fuchs I have in the attic - he's local - they are in great original shape - 50,000 mile car = but I don't have a real feel on what these are going for these days - any help out there?

I could probably write a book on the 16's - but the 15's I am not well versed on.

Thanks in advance

Jeremy,
From some recent research the 15X7 are the hot ticket. Some hot deals out there but min $ I have seen lately is $425 for a pair that would need refinishing for sure. Seen some as high as $600-700 for ones not so bad. Had one person tell me he sold a pair for $825! There were some on evil bay recently that got out of hand. I am sure by the time I type this your PM box will be filled with offers.
The 15X8 seem to be a dog. The last few sales were in the $300 fo a pair range and I have seen some as low as $150 for the pair. The last few evil bay auctions never made the reserve mark and those were for ones that looked good to go. Bids were less then $300.
The trend seems to be sell as a set for over $1000 because the buyer really wants the 7's and thinks he can recoupe some money by selling the 8 seperatly. Smart sellers know this not to be true.
If he is local and has cash, maybe a fellow Pelican and you should be able to make some money but not gauge the buyer either. (karma) Or through them on evil bay with the right to end the auction early and sell local since they are listed that way and see waht the market will give you.

Just my .02
I am sure Derek and a few other in the business will chime in with their .04

I would say:

$500 - $650 if they need some refinishing

$750 - $900 if not.

I picked up a set in these sizes last fall for an extra set of track wheels. I paid $650 - they have been chromed and even some of that is flaking off. These are track only wheels so I didn't care that they were chromed or what they looked like.

My $.02.

I bought two sets of 15 7s/8s at $450 per set last year No curb rash or gouges but track- quality finish.

Why are the 7s so popular?

I paid $150 for a single 15x7 that needs refinishing from a fellow Pelican to use for a full-size spare last winter. The anodizing is in horrible condition, but the wheel is straight and undamaged, so I got a great deal!

Dbyers, can you tell me why the 8's are a dog and worth less than the 7's?
Cheers James

I think the 7’s are the hot ticket as they are the widest stock rim that will fit an early (69-73) 911, both front & rear. There is a very limited selection of tires available for the 8x15’s & virtually everyone with an SC or Carrera flared car wants 16’s not 15’s.

Interesting comments about the 15 x 8's. I knew they weren't worth what the 7's are. So I won't feel so bad now about cutting the back half off some 8's and welding it onto a 7 to make a 15 x 8 with an "R" backset. Might have to hold it down to 7.5 or so.

There are many tire selections for 15x8s. And if I were to increase from my 15s, why would I go to 16s when 17s will fit?

I'm buying a set of (2)7x15 and (2)8x15 tomorrow from a fellow Pelicanite for $1000... I'm driving to Cleveland from Detroit to get them and I'm replacing my nasty old Fuchs replicas with them. BTW, they come with decent tires!

Talking

Since I have a '73 2.4S with RS arches (upgraded by the 3rd owner in '78 by autofarm) the 8's would fit nicely in the space, the 15x7's I have at the moment look a little lost.

I thought I might put the 7's on the front and get hold of some 8's for the back for a Christmas present

Given the price ranges it sounds like it's a lottery. Anyone hear of a good pair at market price?

I just paid 1200 shipped for a set of 15 x 7 and 15 x 8's. It came with a set of Victor Racers with one heat cycle on them. So I would say 800 for a set without tires would be fair. Good luck – Tim
