Just became a 911 owner! how did i do?

Here's the story... young kid... saves up his money.... buys 911!

the car was $13000.

after PPI found out that it needs a new fuel pump...its leaking a bit from thermostat O ring, and the left rear sway bar drop link is broken.
the car has carrera rear fenders.. 930 wheels(so im told)
car has 200k on it...
the motor has 70k leakdown all cylinders 6\8%
some sort of aftermarket oil cooler...
new shocks new rubber...

some pictures

the only thing i dont like is having to get out of the car in the middle of the street and bang on the fuel pump to get it working .... then see how far i can get before it gets stuck agian...
PITA but i guess i have to live with it till i get it fixed...

so was 13K ok?

wow price seems way high for an sc with the issues listed and 200k on the clock. I would guess 10k would be a decent deal.

I guess that's his way of saying congratulations and welcome to the board and Porsche ownership.

Looks like a lot of fun to me. While I don't know if those are Turbo wheels, they look pretty fat. It's a nice balance, the wider wheels and the tail. Congratulations from a guy who is way older than the car.

you aren't the first, and won't be the last. These cars have that effect on people.

No regrets...no worries. If you like the color and the aftermarket seats, drive it and grin. Put a new (or rebuilt) fuel pump in and then look at getting the sway mount fixed (that is a really common break).

The oil coller looks like a factory 28 row brass coller...a very nice upgrade from the trombone. Are you going to track it?

Doesn't look bad. that oil cooler you have is a euro brass cooler. Factory piece, and it's a good one. 7+8" Fuchs were originally on 930 up to 86(?) so that is indeed correct.

Not a good idea to run around with a failing pump, it's a liability to drive like that, if you run low on pressure you can hurt the engine esp. as hot as it is.. Doesn't cost much and an easy fix - do it before you drive again.

Pricing, OK if the body is clean and you're not rusting or looking funny anywhere. I can see some of the original texturing / stone guard. around the front wheels so it appears to be original there.

Otherwise, good job!

I'm not trying to diss him, just giving him an honest opinion. He asked.

Anyway, air-cool-me it looks like a fun project and I'm sure you are going to have a ball sorting this car out. Do you have any experience welding? I had to replace my swaybar drop link due to it breaking and ended up replacing both while I was in there. It's not to hard to DIY if you can weld. You definately want to get that fuel pump fixed asap before you are left stranded. Good luck, should be a fun first 911.

no EXP welding.... but alright DIY'er.
im sure i can tackle the fuel pump.

13K is about what the last owner probably had in it..maybe more.

Take a 77 add SC/Carrera flares, transplant the 3.0 and the Carrera front valance and foglights, the Recaro seats, MOMO Competition wheel, the Fuchs, the center console, and Carrera cooler, and anything else I cna't see in the picture...and the populare Black paint...13K is not so bad..esp. if the transplant and upgrades were well done.

Try doing all that yourself and you will be lucky to fall in under 13K....

Enjoy the car. Don't look back....start saving for more upgrades.... enjoy the car..learn to drive a 911...enjoy the car. WELCOME!

Shouldn't cost much to have it tacked back on. Under stress the rear sways always rip out. I'd lift it and perhaps check a muffler shop to see if they can put it back into place. There are reinforced rear sway mounts available for a few bucks more. Shouldn't be needed though unless you're really beatig on the car and it's got thicker sways.

Fix that pump whatever you do..... Should be the same between 2.7 and 3.0.

Well, if the mount isn't broken and it's what the PPI says, just get these.

You'll find them in the Pelican catalogue under Tarret Adjustable Rear Drop Links.

I've read his post(s) half a dozen times and I can't find where he asked for any opinions. I suppose one could assume he wanted one, But if I just bought a car, I would like to hear something positive.

Hope the fuel pump thing works out. IIRC, the pump on my '77 was under the sheet metal gravel pan in the front behind the gas tank. Be prepared for a little work. You might install some new fuel hose "while you're in there."
