Simple conversion to Dukes of Hazzard style egress

Well, I inadvertenly convertered my driver's side interior door latch to a General-Lee style egress -- ie, the sturdy 20 year old German (?) plastic snapped off in my hand. Thankfully, unlike Bo and Luke, I had the exterior latches, and being daily driver, I have yet to weld the doors shut on my 911.

So I have a black anodized aluminum handle ordered and have two questions:

1. Will it look a lot like the stock handle? I'll probably convert the passenger side eventually so at least they'll be a perfect match for each other.

2. How much of a PITA will this be to install?

Thanks!

I can't help you with the question on the handles, but I had the mental image of me trying to do a DOH egresss, and came up with an image very similar to that of play-dough being squeezed out of one of those little forming toys.

I too recently broke my drivers side handle, ordered the handle then went to install and realized a needed the little whilte plastic fitting which holds the operating linkage in place. Other than that very easy install. I believe our host here carries them but not sure of correct name or part number.
Good luck

Thanks -- I figured that I might need all the other little pieces so I went the safe route and ordered them. Plus, they could break too.

Once you got the parts, was the install pretty straight forward?

Very easy. I think you need to take the map pocket off, which is a matter of 6-7 screws and finessing it around the protrusion coming down off of the grab handle. Then just pop the connecting rod off the back and take the top C-clip off the vertical hinge rod. The rod should slide out. You may need to save the plastic receiver for the connecting rod (center back of the handle), as I'm not sure what the new ones come with. Just don't lose the C-clip, or, if you do (like I did) remember to just use your remaining one on the top of the vertical hinge rod.

Hope this helps.
