engine numbers

Trying to determine the engine that is in my 79 911. The #s next to the fan are *6285832*. The numbers further in are 930/63.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Curious, they don't match.

According to my cheat sheet,

*6285832* is a 1978 (USA/CDN) 911 SC, engine type 930/04

930/63 is a 1978 or 1979 California Turbo, and the serial number should be 688xxxx or 698xxxx respectively.

628xxxx is not an engine from California

it came out of a car with a Vin
9118200001-9118202436 ( that covers the chassis for US both 49 states +California)

only the engines are listed seperately, Calif engines are 658xxxx

where exactly do you see this 930/63??

The 930/63 is on a flat surface directly behind the casting #, it is horizontal, as opposed to the other number which is vertical

The VIN is 9119201999. Believe that is for a '79 911SC with a 3l engine

911920xxxx :

911SC produced from august 78 till july 79

49 States should have engine number 629xxxx (930/04)
Californians should have engine nr 659xxx (930/06)

The car is from CA, could it be a "mis-stamp"

This is an engine swap, 3.3Turbo into a 79 911SC correct? The VIN isn't relevant.

Are you sure that "2" isn't a "9"? As in 698xxxx ?
