Steve Wong Chip usable?

Hello all, I have a friend who is selling a Steve Wong chip that was set up specifically for his 1987 911 3.2L. His set up is with a cat bybass and other exhaust modifications + twin plug and euro spec pistons and cylinders. My 87 911 (same year) is not modified at all. My intent is to keep it stock and to use the chip, but can the chip be modified for my original engine specs? By the way he is selling the chip for $125. Last question is are there 24 and 28 pin applications for thgat year engine or are they all 28 pin? Thanks for the advice, Johnny O. P.S. I did do a search and was unable to find the answer to the question reconfiguring the chip.

I'm sure Steve would re-program for a fee, but then you are close to cost of new, so why not buy new? I'm pretty sure this chip won't be much good for you as the configuration of the other motor is so different from yours. This is assuming it was programmed for the other motor.

I think the money you save will be wasted in poorer peformance. Steve really does make a custom chip that suits you specific needs and not a "generic" chip that others make. This makes them less applicable to suit different cars. Put the money towards a new chip and you'll be happier.

Steve's a very good guy. Send him an e-mail. I'm sure he'll work with you!

I don't expect something for nothing, I will purchase a new chip from Steve, I have heard nothing but great thing about him and I believe it would be the best money I can spend, I've been there before where you try to save a buck and end up with more aggravation than the money savedis worth, again thanks for the input, always appreciated, Johnny O

'87s had both pin configurations. I think the split was June or July production dates. Only way to really tell is to open your DME before you order.

Get a new Steve Wong chip, as your buddie's chip is set-up for twin-plug which runs less ignition. Your car may run, but you will give up some power.

Steve's a great guy, it might also be possible for him to reprogram your buddie's chip for your single plug configuration for a nominal fee. You may still come out ahead.

If Steve wasn't coming down personally to map my 3.5L twin-plug on the road and dyno, I would have had some interest in your buddie's chip.

Ralph
