How to remove dash vents?

I want to remove the dash vents in the ends of the lower dash panel in my 88 Carrera.

I can remove the screw in the end of the panel, but don't see where I go from there. Can anybody help?

Thanks.

Gently start to pry them out. there are four flat pieces of spring steel afixed to the plastic vent and besides the one screw they are actutally just wedged in.

can that be said for the ones in the center of the dash as well? i have the horizonal deflectors missing on mine. well they are not missing they are floating around in the duct work and when i turn the fresh air fan (old AC fan) it sounds like a windchime. i would like to remove the outer deflectors and remove the small bits that float around.

will the center vent just pull out too by prying at each end?

I think the tabs are on the top and bottom, not on the sides, but I'm not 100% sure. I need to do the same repair on my vanes, so I'd be interested to know before I start (gently) prying to try and remove it.

Found these pictures on the PP classifieds - with tabs on top and bottom. These are from a mid '80s car, so earlier/later ones may not be the same...

that looks exactly like mine.. thanks for straightening me out 'cause I gotta revisit that vent.. and logic says they should be on the top & bottom.
