Bosch part numbers test
Can anyone convert the following Bosch #'s to Porsche #'s. And identify what application they are for or any differences? #1. 0237302034 #2. 0237301004

Jim has an extensive list of Bosch & Porche number for CIS components at
http://members.rennlist.com/jimwms/CIS/CIShome.html Unfortunatley it doesn't include any O237.. numbers. Frank |

I can partly help you. Bosch number 0.237.301.004 is an ignition distributor for the 86-89 911 Turbo. Porsche part numbers are 930 602 103 00 for engine type M30.66 and 930 602 104 00 for engine type M30.68
The second part number does not show as a good number in my Bosch book. It may have been superceded to something else. The closest that I show is the ignition distributor for the 75-77 930 which is Bosch number 0.237.301.001. I don't know what Bosch number 0.237.301.005 fits, but it also uses the same cap and rotor part numbers as the 2 Bosch numbers you gave. I know one is right, do I still get an "F" on my test (50% avg.)??? Ralph |

Thanks Guys. 3.5 you get an F, or something. The second number is the original distrib on a 78 930. Any way to check if that has been superceded to the later number?

I spoke with 3 different Bosch WD's this morning that I deal with. The only "good" part number out of the 4 is 0.237.302.034. According to them, it fits all 3.3L 930 and the OEM number is 930.602.104.00
The other 3 part numbers (0.237.301.004, 0.237.301.001 & 0.237.301.005) do not come up on their computers as valid part numbers any longer and unfortunately there is no mention of a supercession to the .034 number. It's like these numbers never existed. Hope that helps. Ralph |

3.5L, Thanks it helps, but the mistery deepends. My local Porsce dealer says 0237302034 does not come up for them. But that PP #93060202102 is the Distrib for 80-89 cars. The only difference I can tell, is that 78-79 had Thermel reactors, and EGR valve. I think the later changed for emissions reasons. I so I still don't know if the later distribs are interchangable with the 78-79's. B

I looked at Porsche's parts software again, and listed the part numbers for all the 930 distributors from 75-89. Hope this doesn't cause more confusion:
75-77 930 (3.0L) Porsche part number 930.602.101.00 fits engine codes 930.50, 930.51, 930.52 & 930.53. The original Bosch number that corresponded was 0.237.301.001. This is essentially all the 3.0L turbo motors for world production. 78-79 930 (3.3L) Porsche part number 930.602.101.08 fits engine codes 930.61, 930.62, 930.63, 930.64 & 930.65. Unfortunately, my Bosch book skips all the 930 info from 78-85 even though the 930 was still imported here in 78-79. Strange. Porsche part number 930.602.103.00 fits engine code 930.66 which seems to be the ROW motors in the early-mid 80's when the car wasn't imported into the USA. Finally, Porsche part number 930.602.104.00 fits engine code 930.68 which is 86-89 USA models. The Bosch number is 0.237.302.034. My sources say that this distributor will fit all 3.3L 930's (78-89) but I cannot confirm if this is true or not. I've exhausted my resources, good luck! Ralph |

Ralph, Your extra credit efforts will reward you with a A for Effort, which actual starts with an E, so at least you get a passing grade. I think its safe to say you could use the later dizzy in an earlier car. I'll try it, see my follow up thread titled "help, I just blew up my car" Thanks, you are a technical wiz, or at least good at finding and reading data.
