Red face Saw an accident today.....felt bad...it was like I wanted it to happen

Here is the story....I feel guilty for the brief instant that I felt happy just as the accidident occured

Came off an offramp (Gardiner to York/Bay)today that stops at a light.
Right lane is a mandatory right and left lane is a staight only lane. There is always a long line that backs up the offramp for people waiting to go straight.

Guy in a Dodge passed the line by driving up the right lane and then stopped with his left flicker on in an attempt to cut in on all the people patiently waiting to go straight ahead. In doing so he blocked his own lane and held up morning rush hour commuters.

Being more of an A$$ he pushed the nose of his car further into the lane to establish his intention to go first when the light goes green.

Well he had pushed the nose of his car right in front of the passenger side wheel of a HUGE construction dump truck.

Of course the poor guy in the dump truck could not see that this "tool" had pulled right next to him because the Dodge was below his door level and right under the door mirrors.

So light goes green.....

Dump truck rolls forward......

Dodge gets grabbed by the truck bumper right at front fender/door mirror level and the Dodge gets dragged sideways into the guardrail and the concrete curb. The Dodge just kind of scraped forward and popped up and down by the force of that Mack.

Poor truck driver...he must of thought...."what the F*C&"

No one was hurt, but I felt bad that I was happy for a brief second to see someone finally "get it" for driving so inconsideratly.

Wink OK, so I did clap and laugh a little

Problem was that my son 3 year old was in the seat beside me in my SC and I felt bad that I was relishing in the misforture of others.

There's too much "my time is more valuable than yours" attitude on the roads. He deserved what he got. Jackass.

The marons that do this can't figuer out that they are not getting there any sooner. They only gain maybe a minute or two best. The way I see it, the guy didn't want to sit in that dodge any longer than he had to!

Did you stop and give the dump truck driver you name and number. I hope he doesn't up being the loser in this situation.

I feel bad for both drivers, one for the dump truck driver for being in the wrong place, wrong time. It's probably a work truck so it will affect his job causing an accident. For the Dodge guy for having a wrecked car now.
I know about driving impatient and on my way to work their is a long line of cars about 1 mile worth waiting to make a left hand turn. Near the last 300 ft, the lane opens into 2 lanes for turning. Is it wrong to go to the front and catch on to the 2nd lane to make the turn? I have done it several times and the worst I have gotten was a middle finger. I got so tired of the line, I now go make a right, do a U-turn and beat the line both ways. People drive erractic for reasons, its usually nothing personal to other drivers. People just need to let it go and remember it the next time they cut someone off.

Re: Saw an accident today.....felt bad...it was like I wanted it to happen

I say he deserved it. I hate people who cut in line. One time I was at this huge festival. 25,000+ people trying to leave all at the same time on a one lane, unmaintained dirt road. Some punk a$$ kids in a truck tried to drive around the one lane while everyone else waits (partying) patiently in line. I got out of the camper, and stood in front of their truck, and requested they go back to the end of line. They disagreed with me, and tried to run me down. The whole line of cars cheered when the Bureau of Land Management officers who had watched the whole thing arrested the driver.

Way to go Ed. You are my kind of guy. You should have also filed for attempted battery.

We need more people like you.

Why let moron drivers affect your daily life - much less put your life at risk because of them!!?? They'll never go away. Honking the horn, giving them the finger or standing in front of their car won't change the way they drive. Better to sit back, turn on some good music and assume that people cutting in line are in an emergency situation - maybe trying to get to the hospital or home to a fire. This assumption is probably erroneous in most cases, but makes for a calm drive for yourself.

I say the Dodge driver did it to himself - it's poetic justice. I'd feel sorry for him if it was an accident but it wasn't, it was the direct result of his own selfish actions.

exactly, and they'll get what's coming to them - where it's due.

Right on, cegerer! I adopted that attitude several years ago, and ever since my commute to work has been great no matter what.

I would not have felt bad at all. Hell, I probably would have gotten out and laughed at the guy. If you drive like a knucklehead, you get what you deserve.

Exactly. I have lived in Asia for most of the past 15 years and this crap goes on all the time. Once allowed to escalte like it has here more and more people are getting killed and maimed. The rules are set up to protect us all and also give us all a fair go.
Some people don't want to play by the rules then take the punishment once it dished out.

That will probably be the last time he does that. Be happy that he can learn a lesson without serious bodily injury. (and everybody else that saw it)

While one has to agree with Curt's philosophy, I wouldn't be able to help myself from delighting in the perverse pleasure of watching some line crowding jackass's truck being preztelled by a Mack.

I would have been the head cheerleader. Pumping fists in air and all that.

He deserved it. The folks who pretend they did not know they were in the wrong lane, they are responsible for the backup.

I usually have the patience to just let it go when I see antisocial behavior, but I got into it with a motorist this morning. I could sense he was going to try to use the core point (triangular area separating cruising and merging traffic....this is not a driving lane) to get around me. Sure enough, so I eased over and prevented this. Next, he tried to use a 'wrong lane', which was also in inside line, and I denied. Then, he tried the full-on swing-wide full-throttle pass the MF Porsche routine, and again I denied. All this occurred in speed zones of 40 mph or less.

I get really tired of this kind of behavior. It just puts everyone else in danger, and slows traffic. If I were a trooper or local police guy, I'd watch this stuff really carefully.

Don't let that guilt get to you. I'd have cheered as well. Take every minute a pinhead like that "saves" himself and multiply it by the number of people he inconvenienced and it can add up to many man-hours of others' time he wastes.

How many times have you been delayed when the highway is being necked down to one lane, b/c a few jacka$$es won't just move over into the lane when they can, but need to dash up to the bottleneck itself and shoehorn themselves into the one open lane -- THAT's what slows down the traffic. I'm trying to come up with a concealed bb gun that can take out a tailight of one of these selfish pricks on their way by to cut everyone else off, wasting hundreds of peoples' time.

It'll definitely help me under such circumstances in the future to know that every so often, one of these dirtbags gets what he deserves.

I feel bad for the poor guy driving the truck. When you drive like an a$$ there will be consequences...as the guy in the Dodge is now quite aware of. If I ever find myself in a "turn only" lane that I don't want to be in I would NEVER hold up the poor people behind me...I'd just make the turn and get where I'm going another way. I hate to say it but I have a hard time feeling bad since he has NO ONE to blame but himself.
