3.0 to Turbo conversion?

Hi,
I am wondering if anyone has ever attempted to install a turbo in a 3.0 engine. If so, how much work would be needed, and what would the cost for the turbo be? I do not know much about turbos, but I may want to install one in my '86 911 cab that has a 3.0. Would the frame need to be widened (My Porsche is on a 76' frame) ? Can someone explain to me how a turbo works?
Thanks,
Matt

There are a couple of folks who have attempted this feat.
The frame does not need to be widened.
There might be some threads on this.

Use the search button and look for 911SC turbo and "rfng". "rfng" is selling a kit I believe.
Here's a link to get you started:
Turbo Kits for 80-83 911 SC
Welcome to the board.

It would be cheaper and less painful to just sell your car and buy a 930.

Maybe not if you've got a '76 converted to a '86 Cab with a 3.0 motor. Turbo cabs are kinda expensive...

True. I agree. My only question is, would you be able to get that money back when the car is sold? Just a thought.
