ST Project: Workin' on the inside!
The car runs well, suspension is set. Now its time to work on the inside. I spent the last two days installing carpet. Today I finished up with the new RSR door panels. Appbiz products all around. Installation was easy with the exception of fitting 74+ carpet set to the 71 chassis. There are just enough differences to make it difficult. Hey, what can I say since it was bought used, uninstalled from the Pelican Classifieds.
The carpet was installed over a sound panel covering the rear deck, tranny tunnel and seat pans. This is the $20/roll sound mat with foil backer available at Pep Boyz. Permatex spray glue all the way. Great stuff, no overspray. Pics... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The new Moniker of the ST. Yes, its also a good local band's album. ![]()

How does the car sound with that sound mat in there? And, did you remove the stock sound dampening "goo"? |

Sorry Randy, I didn't see your reply. The car sounds much quieter. but his is just at idle. I am comparing this to the bare metal interior from my test runs. I still don't have seats in since I am fitting the cage back in. I just hate cutting holes in that new carpet to mount the cage. I don't know if the sound is damped more from the carpeted interior, door panels or the sound insulation underneath.

jamie,
a few questions on the door panels. i have them but my leather pull strap broke. of course it broke really close to the latching mechanism and not in the middle... how is it attached to the locking mech? what's the best way to install/reattach it? i'm guessing same way as before but HOW do you reach there? window out? up? etc.... thanks. |

Dave,
The end of the strap will have a clip that looks like these. ![]() The clip is simply looped through a hole in the end of the strap and then clipped to the release arm on the door latch. Should be easy to cut the strap , make a new hole and reclip it. You may want to install a metal grommet to the strap to prevent it pulling. BTW, I don't use the straps to close the door. I think it puts too much stress on them. edit to fix pic

Bob at APPBIZ here, car looks great, I have some extra floor sets and pedal board carpet here for a 69-73 tub. We pull them out of the sets when we ship RHD sets to Europe. Give me a call and we can work something out. BTW car is looking great!!!! Bob bob@appbiz.com 310-539-6183 |

Harlaquin, we have replacement straps available. Will also sell them to Pelican if they have an interest. Ours are Embossed on the edges just like the factory ones
Give me a call. Bob bob@appbiz.com 310-539-6183 |

Bob, Thanks for the compliment. The post is over 2 years old now. I wish it still looked that clean. After numerous trips to the track and countless backroad miles its a little dirty. I guess I should clean it one day...
