Another Dimension

What are the dimensions of the headlight bucket on an early 911?

I'm planning a custom application and doing some research.

Ideally someone could trace around the glass or trim ring and post a pic

of that oval next to a ruler with the length and width measurements

Any help greatly appreciated

What is it with you new guys? One wants a complete photo shoot of a stripped interior. Buy a car and then ask questions.

Thank you Dp for that warm welcome to this forum. As I said this was for a custom application for one of my cars. I thought someone might have the info handy or be willing to trace the outline of a "sugar scoop" and see if the L+W would make sense for my project. But I guess I'll buy my own headlight lens and if its not the right size then chuck it in the trash. Or take your advice and buy a vintage 911 before asking any questions

Don't get too upset. I think most forums like to see new members/low post members introduce themselves and put some context to requests. I would suggest a post introducing yourself and your car and project.

Yea, we like to know some background on who you are, and that you are just another hobbyist. And not some huckster selling some service or crappy parts. You are asking a big favor for some total stranger to take time to dig up specifications or dimensions and they may will never hear back from you or what you are doing with it.

Introduce yourself, what cars do you have and what are you trying to accomplish?

OK I have been on several forums over the years with the
nom de plum of SirTweakAlot.I was active on The Big Coupe group
and have owned several E24 6er BMWs. Had a few W124 E420 Benz's
that keeps me on Benzworld and The 500E board. My current list of
rides is on my signature. Perhaps I'm a bit cagey about info 'cuz I just
had my truck stolen which brings it to 3 vehicles stolen in 5 years actually
5 counting my skateboard and bicycle.

My project concerns my W210 E55 AMG whose plastic lenses have faded and the PO put in aftermarket HID bulbs with the original halogen lenses and they're just a glarey mess. There's a ton of aftermarket housings for the w210 a lot of cheesy lookin' crap. I thought of using the glass US spec lens for an early 911/356/vw/
The W210 pre-facelift fender is similar in shape here is a lousy photoshop of how it might look

and this with the early 911 housing

I of course don't know if this would fit and now you're probably less likely to measure it for me but I keep thinking about it

If somebody has a rusty dented-up pos sugar scoop they wanna get rid of I could use it as a template. Please let me know
