Engine Install/Rear mount bar threads?
I posted this question over in the rebuild board but it is doesn't have many users today So...
Putting the engine back in today!, but I have a question about the rear mount bar threads. I installed the bar the same way up as the picture on the cover of the rebuild book. I am concerned that the engine seems to be held in place by only about 4-5 threads on the bolt because the threads are at the bottom of the holes in the bar. Is this normal?

I was concerned about the same thing, so I got a pair of M12x110's and used them along with lock washers and large flat washers.

I'm about to put a 3.2 into a 69 chassis. On the old engine the bolts went all the way through and then had a nut at the bottom, but with the 3.2 even with the bolts for that engine, it does seem to be purely the thread in the mount bar, with no extra room to add a nut for safety.
heh.. that's what i get for hitting last page instead of next page and replying to an ancient thread ![]()
