Possible color change - What would fit my brown interior?
Hi guys, while i like my SC Targa very much, i cant say the same with its Copper Metallic - can you say brown? - color. So i have some questions:
1_ If i pay for a "visible sections only" quality repaint with another color, will it affect its resale value? Remember id have to sell a BROWN car..... 2_ my interior is... brown! So what shade would suit that interior color? I though about Miverva Blue, like a guy named POP used to have. Any suggestions? here it is in its glory! ![]()

SC's look great in "retro" Irish green...and it looks fine with a brown interior.

Lexus has a color called White Gold Crystal, That would be a good color for the brown interior, it's almost silver. Sorry for the small Jpeg. I also put a link up but I don't have anything to do with the company but it let's you choose some colors on this page. I think Lexus always did brown and similar "mature" colors really well.

1) yes, it would hurt re-sale value, IF you could find someone who wants to buy a copper colored Porsche (read: nobody). I think you would have a much better chance of selling a nicer colored car despite it's non-original color.
2)If you want to keep it Porsche and period correct, "Chiffon White" (yellowish off-white) would go good with brown interior. Bottom line: Paint it. You'll enjoy it more. Added benefit=it will sell when it's for sale. mike

Call me crazy but I like the car in Copper. About the only colors I don't like are Guards red and Sepia brown. Although Sepia has grown on me, (I know sounds like a medical condition) only the Germans would ever think of painting a car Sepia brown. Even Guards red looks good on later cars when you put a duck tail to go with it.
It's funny how colors go in and out of fashion. My 71' S Targa was originally Signal Orange but the previous owner had it painted white and blacked out the trim in the 80's. I'm returning the car to it's original Orange and chrome glory. With black and white houndstooth sportseats to boot. I remember seeing a Copper SC Targa in the late 70's just like yours and remember how awesome I thought it looked. Diffenently a period color. Anyway, have fun regardless fo what you do.

How about Birch Green?
Looks like a kind of tennis ball colour. Would stand out, and brown and green should always been seen! But I like your car the way it is, fits the period, but I guess thats a personal choice. In my large coffee table book named PORSCHE (Author Lucinda Lewis, great book too) they have each model car photographed, and for the 1978 Targa they have chosen your colour, copper brown.

Also, if you updated your headlights to H4s that'd make a big diff IMO.

H4s? Done that. You know, i always get big smiles from the people who look at the car, but honestly it must be because it a Porsche, but maybe because its brown too... Arrgh!

I think that copper what ever looks nice. Is this original paint? If it is, I would think that it would be worth more than a non original paint job and color. just my 2 cents.
Lets face it, 911's look nice in any color. |

That's a nice looking car. I wouldn't change it. In the late afternoon light is when that paint stands out the best.

Color for Brown Interior
My '70 911SC Targa is a 'paint to sample' color that I'd describe as very light creamy yellow. The brown interior looks great with it.

My $0.02. For me, a brown interior is a bigger turn off for buying the car than the copper exterior. My car is a beige color (very similar to jshape's in the picture above) with a brown - not the nice tan but poo brown - interior. The thing that kills me is that everthing in the car, except for the stip one the dash with the glove box and the gauges, was brown. Everything. So I'm changing it all to black this weekend.
I found I used to hate the beige, but I've grown to really like it. Never grew to like the brown interior, though. I can't wait until its all black. If it were me, I'd go black on the interior and throw in some H4s.

I like the color of your car. In the current Excellence there is a pic of a GT3 cup car that color. It looks great. The cup car is "retro"; yours is real.

IMO,
One of the Mercedes colors might look nice. The newer SLs (R129) have a nice light silver/pewter/bronze metallic that would look cool. A very deep maroon/red would look nice as well. Porsche has Brokade Red that is like a very deep blood red color. Here are two examples: ![]()
