door interior light push button switch... help!

The wire has come loose from the push button switch
in the driver's side door jam of my 87 carrera that controls
the interior light. Can anyone tell me how to access the
wire to reconnect it to the switch? Surely it isn't necessary
to remove the fron left fender!? How do I access the back
of the door jam? Thanks for any suggestions...

no access from fender, no access from interior side. you will have to go fishing thru the 6mm hole after light switch is removed. try removing aux footwell motor, you will see the brown wire heading into the a pillar, pop out rubber plug, do not pull wire out yet. use a stiff mechanic wire and poke it thru both holes, go fishing like an electrician. when it feeds thru both pull the wire and tape it to your rod and reel the wire thru. good luck on your frustrating puzzle.

Take the footwell cover(carpeted) off ,3 screws. From there you will see how to access the wires for the wires for the switch.

Take the rubber grommet (door jam) of the switch and you'll see the push button is held in by a nut.

Straight forward from there.

It also helps to push a coat hanger thru to the interior and tape the wire to it, then with draw the hanger.

That's brilliant... Thanks much! The stiff wire through the swtich and interior panel holes is the key. I should have thought of that.
