Installing a new power antenna

Hey, can anyone who's installed a power antenna (especially on an 84 Carrera) give a little bit of an overview on how things went with the wiring?

Am I better off cutting and joining the existing wiring, or should I run all the wires fresh?

I bought one of those universal import power antennas.

Use the existing wires. I did mine (82SC) in :30 taking my time and its perfect. It was super easy and straight-forward. I bought mine off ebay (Hirsh ~$35).

Cheers,
Patrick

Brought an original Hirschman for my 82 on eBay for $20.00

Used the original wiring.

Anybody know what the gauge of the wiring is, and what the best way to make sure that the ensuing connect is waterproof/weatherproff?
