CIS Injector Question
I need to replace the rubber injector seals that hold the injectors in the cylinder head.
Pelican has these in stock for 74-83 models. I know that the inlet setup changed in 1974 from the metal tube version in 73 to a cast alloy version in 74 and thereafter. Does anyone know if these rubber grommets are universal or if the 73 version is different from the later version. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

According to the PET, the '73 doesn't show an O-ring - just a sleeve.
'74-up use an O-ring and a sleeve. The injector and sleeve part numbers are different between '73 and '74-up. I'd say they are different. The '73 is a rare beast for sure ... not sure you'll find your exact replacement seals. Might need to try/adapt the '74-up to see if they will work. Your best bet for originality I'd say. If you get really stuck, you could probably run the Al runners and later injectors on your '73 system. Runners are probably out there to be had. I have a '74 Al runner CIS system that I'm not planning on using (missing WUR). No idea when it last ran or how well it works - came with a core engine I'm using. Airbox isn't blown, but some plastic is broken off (1 side hose fitting, 1 lid strap hook) - I think those can be fixed with "creative" solutions. Everything else appears to be there and is in decent shape - cleaned up well anyway. I thought it might make a good backup CIS system or tbitz EFI conversion system for somebody. Let me know if there is any interest.

I just checked the PET and the '73 and '74-up airbox do have different part numbers - could be for other reasons than the airbox port IDs though.
The Al runners are machined down in OD for the rubber boot connection to the airbox. The Al runners are pretty thick too - at least 3mm cast wall. I could measure the ID of my Al runner and that could be compared to the ID of the '73 steel runner.

Pelican has seals for the 73.5 injectors. They look identical to the ones I just put in a '74 engine. http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/shopcart/911E/POR_911E_fuelij_pg1.htm

Those would be for the Al runners which use the O-ring and the sleeve.
Again the PET showed just a sleeve for the '73 tubular steel style runner.

The 1973.5 T CIS injector seals shown here in the on-line Pelican Parts catalog are not correct. The correct part number is 911.110.922.00 and they are available for $3.14 each. They are not particularly rare; everytime I order them (I've restored a 1973.5 T) the correct parts come. The are not an o-ring but more like a flanged rubber bushing. They seal between a pressed in thin wall metal socket in the head and the CIS injector. Cheers, Jim

Thanks for the suggestions from all of you. Lots of useful information and ideas.
Thanks also to Jim Sims who provided the oem #. A search of the PP catalogue found them. Even though the catalogue says special order - ships in one week, the parts are on their way to me one day after order. Price is as Jim said. I hope to have them installed next weekend. Thanks again, all.
