Actually a lot of people like it. I'd say about 50/50. Is the price adjusted accordingly? Who can say?

I do not think it is 50/50 w/r to the desireability of the coppery bronzey rootberry metallic brown colour - however - the important part is that you like that (ugly) colour. if the rest checks out I say $21000 usd.

I didn't think so either, but I've asked around and it seems more people than one might think like the color. It wouldn't have been my first choice, but it's kinda grown on me, like fungus....

What is your basis for saying $21K. Under what circumstances would you say more, or less. Car has 60K, and has been well cared for and well maintained.

Pretty hard to put a value on the car without more info. I would figure on, at the very least, a $500 deduction for the ding. If the car is really nice I think you'd spend more than that to ensure it remains really nice.

Is it just me or are the Carrera G50 prices rising all of a sudden?

In my opinion it would be worth more if it was not "fungus" coloured - these cars are some of the best of the lot (ROW cars non-withstanding). However be forewarned - the coppery bronzey rootberry metallic brown cars are harder to unload - should you change your preference regarding that (ugly) colour.

Back to the original question.

You like the color, the car looks nice enough in the picture, you are close to your price.

Why obsess over some minor bodywork. These cars are 20 years old on average. You will not find a perfect one and even if you do unless you lock it in a garage and never drive it it'll get dings and paint chips.

Get the guy to knock a couple of bucks off, buy the car, have it fixed and drive the car, and definately get some meds.

mmm - I guess this car is original, eh? My guess on a 1989 G-50 Carrera - 60K miles, all records, 60K service completed on schedule, good leakdown, valve guides and seals checked out, good tires, rubber seals in good shape, no interior wear, no foggy guages, working clock, good hood shocks, bright lights, etc. In the NE this is probably a $24-$27k car. In the Midwest probably a $23-$25K car. In California probably a $22-$24K car.

And yes, seems the G-50 Carreras have at least stabilized in price, if not edged up a little. Thanks Bruce Anderson and Excellence! At least the color is original - you are not likely to be sitting across the traffic light at another one!

Are you looking for a concours car? Then skip it.

Otherwise, from your description, the only flaw (other than the 60,000 miles) is the dent. If you don't want to allocate $500 to have it repaired or compensate in the purchase price, keep looking for the perfect car. Hint. You will either pay dearly for one of those or look for long time.
