83 911SC CIS computer

Does anyone know of a source for an OEM or remanufactured CIS computer for my 83 SC? I'm having a hell of a time getting my car smogged here in Calif. Thanks, Craig

Just curious, what makes you think you have a bad "brain"?

yeah, the relay, or no power to the relay is the most common problem. computers don't fail much.

John is correct. The failure rate is very low.

Check the following:

1. +12 volts on pin 8
2. +12 volts on pin 15 (return connection from freq valve)
Checks that freq valve gets power from the relay next to the Lambda unit
3. grd on pins 5 & 16
4. O2 sensor on pin 2
5. Cold running enrichment on pin 7
6. Make sure the relay (next to unit) is the correct one.

If the Lambda unit is removed while warm and running, the idle will drop.
Grounding the O2 sensor causes the engine to run rich.

Note: If the Lambda unit is bad, check with Tom Gould at Pelican for a
rebuilt unit. Remember, Pelican has many sources for many parts not
shown on the Pelican web site. Just ask!

Loren, if the Frequency Valve is working at all, wouldn't it be an indication that the "brain" is OK? By working at all, I mean vibrating, with a measurable duty cycle at the test connector near the fuse block?

Thanks,

Tom

Yes, Tom you're correct. Although, the valve may be plugged. Next test is to ground
the O2 input to check full functioning. The idle will drop and the engine will run rich.
