First Porsche - Muffler Install Questions

I am looking for some guidance on the fit of a new Dansk sport muffler I just installed. This is my first Porsche so if this is a repeat I apologize.

I am running a cat by-pass (Bursch) and the 1 in 2 out Dansk that were on clearance here at Pelican. I have a couple questions so here they are, and thanks in advance for the input. What great cars!

(1) How close can I get the muffler lined up? I loosend up everything and keep ending up with about a 1/4" (see photo). I am suspecting perhaps the by-pass pipe is a tad off?

(2) Should the tabs on the front of the muffler slip into the stock clips on the bracket? Drivers side does but passenger side is a little off. I want to be sure everyting is perfect so I can measure for the rear valence modification for the 2nd tip.

I tightened everything down and took it for a drive (couldn't resist) and it sounds great.

That looks a lot like my car

On alingment of the tips, it is most likely the engine mounts that are off, there isn'y much you could do with the muffler. As for the straps, they should fit nicely into the slots on the muffler, the slots are in the same place as the OEM muffler.

I had every intention of recording a pre Dansk sound clip and then a sound clip with the Dansk installed but once I got it out of the box, I could only grin and grab tools. I am relocating to Milwaukee so I will follow up on that over the winter. Here are "newbie" questions 3 and 4 based on replies so far:

(3) The car has 130K on it, should I be looking at replacing motor mounts? Car has been prof. maintained over the years and previous owner even had a major service done after I inquired. I recently did brakes myself but other than that it is sound, I think.

(4) What is a decent clearance between a muffler tip and body work? I don't want to melt anything and want to cut just once for the second tip.

Again, thanks for the input. What a great car!

Steve
