New (retro) colour scheme for race car - prelim pics

Well here's how it looked last week:
NAKED race car...

Now the stripes and safety stickers are all on. The orange wheels are due back from the painters next week. The finishing touch will be the sponsor decals on the bonnet and roof and number panels on the doors. What do you think so far?

And one of the donk - 2.7 MFI goodness - 201 rwhp

It will look great. Can't wait to see the finished car.

Does this mean you are going to powder coat the fan orange?

Looks good! How did you attach your rear "tow"?

That is a very nice looking car -

However, the DOT COM, kills the "retro" part of the look.

Sorry but it's JMO

Anthony - nah, probably not. The engine is running so well now I don't want to touch it.

Jake - the rear tow has an upward right-angled tab that bolts to the lower engine cover. I'll try and take a pic next time I have the car out.

Did you fab it yourself or is it an off the shelf part? Is the angle gusseted?

Is that the standard way to tow from behind? I know that engines are often used as stressed members, (but not in a 911) but the idea of hanging the car from the engine worries the conservative side of me!

It looked great last week naked, and it looks great now. The orange adds a nice touch. I can't wait to see the finished product.

A mate made a few

> Is the angle gusseted?

Yes

I think it uses the bolts that also go through the engine mount - its pretty rigid/solidly mounted.

Shane: Nope - same ones I've always had.

Steve: you and me both. I thought the orange was a bit of a gamble but now I love it. Should have the wheels in a week or so.

Hi Dave

For reasons i'm not fully sure of - I don't like Carrera stripes etc on replica cars. That's why I went for the mix: 'generic' Porsche side stripes plus Carrera front and rear bumper stripes. I think they look good together. Thinking about adding some of your 911R style front and rear light assemblies (in orange) too...

Ryan, looks great! I have just purchased, painted and fitted TRE front and rear R lights and am very happy! The nice thing is they save weight and you can put the original (expensive) ones safely away in a cupboard... PM me if you want some photos etc..

Also, where did you get the side decals? Locally?

Looks great! surprised nobody referenced it, but it's the perfect paint job in time for halloween!

Say, do you folks celebrate halloween in AUS? Gotta get a pic of a big Jack-O(lsen)-Lantern driving it.

Looks great. Even better in person. The pics don't really do it justice.
