I need torque setting for head barrel nuts
I have spent the last 30 minutes "Searching" for the head stud (barrel nuts) torque setting.
I have over 1000 miles on a rebuilt motor and I want to check the head studs but I don't know what it should be. Rick

If you have 1000 miles on the engine, that torque setting may not be accurate.
torque measurements are based on the threads being lubricated with a specified lubricant, dry threads require up to twice the torque to acieive the same stretch. if the builder used anti-sieze you will still have the anti-galling properties but chances are the grease is burned away by now. give it a shot and let us know how it turns out. |

Find out if the rebuilder used lube and ask what torque he used.
