Alternator update as well

I have had 2 years of bad luck with alternators and have nursed my car through them. I now have a rebuilt unit that looks brand new (marchel 70A) and performs excellent. It even has a new plastic bearing support that was suppose to be nla. Any how if anybody is interested it came from OCA in orange county CA. And cost me $111 dollars total. It was well worth it

Like the boys have told me, the real test is the long run. I took a leap of faith on the Pelican "High Output" "All Bosch Parts" alternator made by K3 in Australia. I have 2.5K trouble-free miles, but hope to post at 50K, 75K and 100K miles with additional reports. Then we'll see if my way extra expense and your prudent saving has been worth it. Good Luck!

Loren, Dieter is not likely to give me his source. If you know something, let us know.

Pelican sells all this stuff, so we are treading on thin ice here. However, since many rebuild shops don't sell to the general public, it's still nice to know where your stuff came from.

Shoot, Wayne might like to keep tabs on suppliers of quality rebuilt alts. so any supportive info can be helpful. And, always remember, Pelican would get discount that we won't see, so they should be about the same price.

Wayne -- I wish you would locate a source for some light wt. alternators -- I hear they do exist...
