how should i redo my fuch's?
the recent weidman thread helped me hatch my plan. i booked a month long asia trip at the beginning of the year. i figured that would be the best time to drop my wheels off. now i dont know what look to go for. my SC is GP white. will the silver anodized paddles with black background look good? what about all silver anodized, no black? keep the same, but have them redone? pictures will help, guys. thanks. here is a pic, of my car now. the wheels are starting to get rough.

The silver paddles always look good, but a look I've come to really like is just painting the little sections aroudn the lug nuts, like the first Fuch wheels were painted in the 70's. Sorry I don't have a pic...
|
I know that most of the board likes the polished and polished/painted looks, but I really prefer the original look with black background silver paddles all anodized (it is also the most durable finish)
|
With the white paint on the car, I agree with banjomike...silver paddles annodized w/ black wheel paint.
|
Stock, as is............looks best.
IMHO:confused: |
what if the car is black?
|
On black - all annodized looks racy and you don't see it too much.
|
You should just gave them done all black again, show some SC pride!
The polished paddles will just complicate the lines. |
keep stock. the later cars with all blacked out trim looks best with black wheels. don't introduce another finish.
|
all white centers, detailed crests and polished lip with chrome lug nuts.
|
I like them the way they are. They look great on your car.
|
Here is what I was refering too... note that does have some paint on it, just minimal around the lug nuts.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1098644581.jpg
Silver paddles on a black background I think looks great on white. I'm not a fan of the body-colored centers either. |
do a search for "jpahemi" and check his wheels out. Silver rough over silver smooth anodizing, looks great. When I get the down time, I'm sending my wheels west for the same treatment. Of course, that's on a black car. Although I think it'd look pretty good on yours as well.
|
I vote - leave as is. That's what I'm doing.
A white car - where all the other trim is black - does not need ticky-tacky chromed out/polished wheels. It looks . . . well ticky-tacky. The classic annodized + black centers looks perfect. Ian |
Not sure who's lovely car this is, but it is the Fuch look I intend to get eventually. Now if only my money tree wasn't sterile. ;)
Vash, your car looks great now! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1098647049.jpg |
Another vote for leave 'em - car looks great as it is!
|
Another for Leave them.
|
I usually like polished/anodized paddles but on a white car I think all black looks best.
|
Sell me your Fuchs and go buy yourself BBS wheels or Fikses. Better yet, spinners! Never mind. Polished paddles and black background is my vote.
|
I vote for this look. Italcarguy, hope you don't mind me posting these..........http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1098655496.jpg

beautiful on white......http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1098655563.jpg

Look above, your black anodized wheels look much better as-is than polished paddles. Just have them refinished and they'll look new again.
Yeah. |
|
I had my original Fuchs redone from the stock finish to a polished lip and silver powder coated paddles.
Then I found a stock original finish set of 7's and 9's and put them on. While the refinished wheels look good (some might even say better) the stock finish looked more purposefull and in character with the German road warrior. :) |
The blue targa someone posted a pic of earlier is RCM's car. Until I saw his wheels, I was never really a fan of the polished lips and paddles, I prefered the anodized look. But in person, the polished look is stellar. But I think if you go polished, anodized, or RSR finish, they all look good. All black centers and it just doesn't stand out as a Fuch, it looks far to 80's, which we all know was the low spot of the 20th century.

All black (even the lip)
Or all polished. Although the car does look pretty damn nice as is. |
Bright pink with flourescent green spots!!
Well you did ask how I wanted to see your Fuchs |
When I had 6's and 7's on mine they had the black centres and polished rims. When I got my new 8's, I decided to get the 7's re-anodised to match. The anodised look really suits the car much, much better (particularly on a white car) than the polished. I have recieved nothing but very positive comments since the upgrade.

ouch sheldon! very nice, that may do it for me. i am calling harvey tomorrow.

How about like thishttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1098669140.jpg
|
Personally, I would like to see your fuchs on my car...
Failing that, I vote original. The bright paddles need bright trim to match up with. Our cars with the black trim look best with the original black centers with the anodized lips. Nice shot of your car. I want 9's soooo bad... Dan :) |

RSR Finish..
A.B. |
How about replicating them in forged magnesium and then just spraying some clearcoat over that? You'll save about 2 lbs per wheel....
|
OZCarrera3's before/after shots have me convinced that this is the way to go on a white car. Despite the fact that i have polished lips on black faced 16x7,8's on my red Carrera.
Let's see some RSR finishes Mike '86 coupe |
Hey Vash. Here's another coupe (diff. color) but the polished Fuchs really looked great. Not a common treatment and it adds a different dimmension to the classic wheel. <<Courtesy of Shuey>>

I think leave them as they are but just re do them.
I think it looks a bit bling any other way. |
Vash, thanks for the compliment. If you're wondering what polished Fuchs on a white car would look like...
