Extra gauge mounting option
Gauges are like tools, you can never have too many... right?
Okay, maybe I miss the plethora of gauges of a jet cockpit. Anway, I mounted a few gauges to my center console using a universal, three gauge pod made by APC. It's a great option and using the, as some folks on this BBS call it, "useless" center console on the 911. The only stickler was that the pod is made to mount on a flat surface, so I had to rotate it about 45 degrees to face the driver. I used a block of closed foam computer packing material cut into a wedge as a base for the pod and covered it with black vinyl. Worked like a champ. ![]()

Let me see, you have N1, TIT, and Hydraulic Pressure. Now all you need is AOA and a prop synchrometer.
Just kidding, that actually looks pretty clean. For gauge junkies it's a good place to put them. And LOTS of people here could use a voltmeter.

Any pics from more of the side view? I am interested a little more on the exact mounting. Any more details would be great. Looks real good, btw.

You forgot EGT...
I guess I should have taken pictures as I was putting this thing together. Anyway, I lined up the front of the pod with the edge of the console where the tan part stopped. Then I rotated the pod to face the driver. The distance between the back edge of the pod and the console surface was 2 3/4 inches. So I had to cut a wedge of the foam that was that thick on the back side. There are two longish screws holding everything together, through the pod and foam into the plastic rear cover of the console and the floor just below the console. I had already hooked up the gauge wires, so I didn't feel like disconnecting them to run them through the bottom of the foam for complete concealment. that's why the corrugated wire cover is visible in the pic. Not visible in the car though. Quick and dirty, Hope it's clear enough. ![]() ![]()

Looks good. Back when... I took the ashtray out and mounted a couple of gauges there, but there's really only room for 2.

The 904 has a 3-segment combination instrument, the same size as a 911 combination instrument or speedometer. I have seen versions of these in some trick 911s and 356s. Ask the instrument shops.

Not to take anything away from your neat install, but if any of these gauges conveys critical engine info, the ideal location would be somewhere closer to your line of sight. All of us have probably experienced that too-close call caused by a fleeting glance away from the road. The trick of rotating each gauge so the pointer's "normal" reading is at 12 o'clock is an option. However, the ideal location and the practical location may be separated by more than a few feet. I totally agree.
Volts and Cyl Head Temp don't seem too crtitcal to me, just all nice to haves. All my other cars have an OAT display and I like having that, so I threw that one in as well.
