SSI install, and air injector interference
I started my SSI header/heat exchanger install today on my 1979 911 SC. All went smoothly until I tried to install the cross-over oil line. This is the solid metal line that goes from the driver side of the block, wrapping around the bell housing terminating near the oil cooler. From there another line connects and goes to the thermostat under the right rear wheel well. These oil tubes came from SSI in the "kit".
The problem is that the driver side forward cylinder air injector nozzle interferes with the cross over oil line where it connects to the block. The oil line will not thread into the block with the air injector in place. The injector contacts the oil line directly on the tight angle bend. Does anybody have any experience, advice or solutions for this problem ? Thanks, Steve in Colorado |

Sorry, I should have introduced myself since I am new here. I live in Littleton, CO and I have owned my metallic charcoal colored SC since 1986. Great car and I have loved every minute for the last 18 years I have owned it. She still looks real sharp and has aged better than me. Now that the car is 25+ I no longer need to worry about emissions and decided to go the SSI route. I am looking forward to the results. Thanks for any help you can give me, and I look forward to stopping in here from time to time.

When I put SSIs on my SC I pluged the air injectors. I got the plugs from Pelican. I also got rid of the air pump, and the egr stuff as well. If you dont need the emissions stuff I'd just get rid of it, like I did
